3DR Solo Drone Roof Mount

Has anyone else thought about some sore of releasable mount for a drone on our roof rack? Id eventually like to deploy right off of roof (passenger would pilot the drone)

I have an inspire 1, I don't think I would be comfortable with having the drone on the roof with the vehicle in motion

I've considered it as I thought it would be cool to launch it and recovery it while on trails to get a look ahead. Would be really cool if we could use them to see traffic up ahead etc... I've practiced landing on my roof rack and it's tough while its stationary. Can't imagine trying to do it on the move.

My biggest challenge would be to create a mount. There is a "boat mode' for the Solo. So it will land autonomously at the same proximity to the controller as when it launched.

I was not thinking of having it up there while I'm blowing down the freeway at 85. More like when we get off for pavement.

Like you pointed out, a well skilled drone pilot could be an invaluable spotter
