3rd gen 01 - 35's no lift

Rockdawg84 nailed it.
The suspension goes through the same arc, so if you don't rub throughout the travel of your suspension, you could set your height to whatever you want.
I like the look of having a little lift over being stuffed. I still need to tub my firewall to get full-travel-clearance, and once that's done, I might drop my 3" lift to 2.5".
Here's my 3.4/5mt/clocked duals/4.7's/blahblah 2nd gen stuffing a 37" with stock suspension and a 1" BL-

Well thank you guys! Now that you all broke it down, that seems like the stupidest question ever and I should probably stay off these forums I obviously don't want to get into as much trouble as cutting stuff and removing things as mentioned. I guess if my plans are too only "go to the mall" like [MENTION=53470]Rockdawg84[/MENTION] said, clearly I don't think putting in all this work would make sense or be beneficial other than the fact it would look tough. There's a lot of good information which changes my minds on 35's... essentially I'd just like to make it a hair taller than stock suspension but I don't want it to look stupid like a lot of those trucks do driving down the freeway with tiny tires. Is it even possible to make it a hair taller without all the cutting and suspension swapping and coils being too short?

If you want to go a little taller buy new OEM springs for a 99 4Runner 4WD.
Then you can fit a slightly larger tire. You should replace your shocks while you're at it, stock replacements will do you fine. Replace your front lower ball joints if you haven't already. They can fail without warning. Especially if you have over 150,000 miles.

I love those rims. IIRC they have a different offset than the split 3 spokes because they are from later generations.

Yea, 4th gen wheels need spacers otherwise you'll be rubbing on the UCA.
I love them too. They have a hot rod look about them.

This is incorrect, at least on mine. I have been running those same wheels on my '96 with 265/70/17 Goodyear Silent Armors for a few years now without issues or rubbing on the UCA. I do rub a little on the frame at full lock. Front springs/struts are factory with about 160k miles.

What kind of budget are you thinking of? Swapping out parts on these rigs, especially in regards to the suspension, is pretty straight forward.

Awesome information! I think I want to 3" lift and maybe some body lift if I need it. I'm not sure if 35's will be too much, maybe something smaller will work just as well for me.
