3rd gen 3.4 camshaft pulley removal help?

hey everyone. need a bit of help. i blew a headgasket on my 3rd gen t4r. Ive got the engine tore down to where i need to get the camshaft pulleys off. i made a couple "tweaker tools" to try and hold the pulleys using some flat bar with round bar welded to it to try and hold the pulley. bent those. Anyone have any tips, tricks, or know where i can get a good tool to hold it?

There are also wrench flats on the cams themselves. You'll also need to put bolts through the split gears that are on the cams before taking them off the heads 5VZ-FE/3RZ-FE/2RZ-FE Valve Adjustment Tech - YotaTech Forums

Oil filter wrench/big channel locks and a rag will do it.

Impact gun. Or, leave the timing belt attached and put a breaker bar on the crank pulley bolt, then undo the cam bolts.

Btw, assuming you're wisely doing a timing belt, that Crankshaft bolt you'll need to remove is on with 217ft lbs torque.

That's what I used to remove my cam pulleys. Do not use an impact gun on the bolt without having something to hold the pulley.

I left the timing belt on. I held the crank shaft still with a breaker bar and was able to break the cam bolts free without the belt slipping.

*Edit: I tried several times with a pulley holder and an impact driver at full PSI (~150 I think, at least). Didn't work.

That's what I did too. I think that if some yahoo with air tools re-installs the cam pulley they put them on WAAAY too tight. If not they are supposed to come off without too much effort.
