Well it's pretty much a done deal. Drove up there and looked at it this afternoon and took a test drive. Great car, very well maintained and everything still works good as new. The guy was very nice and had every receipt from every single thing he had done to the car, even for little things like lightbulbs and stuff. Paint is in great shape and the green is starting to grow on me more and more.
I'll be going back up tomorrow with a friend so I can bring it home. Looking forward to being a new T4R owner. Already planning on a few mods. Think I'm going to start it off with removing the running boards to make it look higher.

Great write up! I am looking for a 3rd generation for my father in law as a 2nd vehicle for him. He currently has a 3rd generation with almost 300k on it and he's starting to experience problems and liked his so much, he wants another or a used 4th generation.
Found this one on CL but it sold quick.

The tune up section is nice. I think it will help me out some. The main thing I am still confused about is all the different acronyms people through around, especially with the CV, LBJ, PVC, and all that stuff. I know the CV boots and LBJ are pretty critical but I am still completely confused about them and what I should do or look for. One of my CV boots is flinging a lot of grease all over the place. Does it need to be replace, or just have a new clamp put on it? How long do these things usually last? Same with the LBJ.
I'm getting ready for a big road trip next week for spring break and want to do all I can to prepare the car for it. The original owner took very good care of it, but I think some things are just worn out and need some attention.
I've already changed the oil, cleaned the MAF, TB, and air filter. I did the transmission cooler and replaced the tranny fluid. I'm going to get the rotors turned, brakes checked, and wheels balanced and aligned this week. Anything else I should check out?

I just listed my '97 SR5 V6 4x4 for sale on Craigslist.
Asking $3500, not sure if that was too low though.

I can't speak for your area, but out here that is a $5K 4rnr all day long.
I'm from your area and I saw your ad a few days ago and thought that was a hella good price.
I don't know if you saw it or not, but about 2 weeks ago a guy was selling a 98 SR5 in Ocean View where the front end had been in an accident. It had 230K on it and he was asking 2K. I talked him down to 1300 and he had already bought a new radiator for the thing. I'm in the process of doing timing belt, valve covers, and any and all smaller maintenance right now so it can be my daily driver. If I hadn't gotten that one, yours looked pretty good.
That price seems super low to me. I paid $6700 Canadian for my 97 sr5 with 191000 km. That being said, my area is stupid for used 4Runners. Low-priced runners are gone within hours, no exaggeration. It was unbelievably frustrating being on the buying end of that situation. I put a deposit on mine the day after it was posted and bought it the day after that. The seller hadn't even got a chance to post pictures haha. At least I know I'll have no problem selling mine when the time comes.
I'm not sure what your area is like, but if you were selling that here in Vancouver at that price, it'd be gone within hours.

I have been eagerly saving up to get a toyota 4runner for almost 2 years now. Its going to be my first vehicle ever and I have about 5-6k ready to buy one. I am on Craigslist daily and my only help on searching and buying is this forum . I was wondering if it is worth getting a 4Runner with 180k miles? The models that I been searching for is the limited 3rd gen build (96-2000) It is so difficult to find the right one since it is my first ride, please help!
