Before / After - Stock / Tundra-OME
Here is a before after of my Tundra TRD front coil with stock Bilstein shock and the OME 890 in the rear. The photo does not show a whole lot of lift because of the running boards and the angle...But the OME gave me a full 2" over the 99 coil and tundra front gave me a full 1 1/2". The ride in the rear is fantastic and the coil is real long so when the truck articulates it does not let the coil unseat at all...

many posts were deleted for some reason but to repost the info for those who were asking, the front of truck does not have the adjustable bilstein 5100's that will give me about an inch more lift up front. I have tundra 5100 for front and rear with OME 883s for front and 890s for the rear does anyone know what the perch heights are on there?
I am just using the stock 4runner shock...It is real soft..I am looking forward to the 5100's...So, stock 4runner in back and stock Tundra TRD Bilstein yellow and blue in front...

[MENTION=9139]steezemcqueen[/MENTION] hey can we put stock hub to fender height in the first post so guys have a rough bassis and idea of where they sit, like how much sag they have now with 280k miles, or how much lift they already have -say they bought it used already lifted and dont know anything about the lift. i know for me i also keep forgetting stock height so its hard for me when im playing around with my front lift and setting things back up or running different settings on my 5100s and different spring combos or trim spacers or top hat spacers ect. it would be nice to have a base line to go from at a common/centrally located place and i think the lift thread is that place...

Good idea!
Its hard to say exact since there are a different height stock springs (99 talls vs 01-02) and the stock springs will probably have some sag by now. But a good baseline is that most 3rd gens should measure 20 inches from the center of the hub up to the fender in the front and about 20.5 in the rear. I will add that to the OP.

Hi I just bought some treadwright 265/75/16 guard dogs (buy 4 get 5th free) and found they are a little larger than my 265/75/16 duratracs - probably around 1". What will I need to do to fit the tires on my stock 2002 4runner? I bought the tires to save money but now looks like I will have to spend more unless I cut the fenders?
BTW, I had terrible experiences with goodyear duratracs with flat tires from gravel from day one. I had to replace all but one so all the tires were mismatched - which caused difficulty disengaging from 4x4 unless I put it in reverse. With the center diff locked, even reverse sometimes wasn't enough to disengage.
**edit** Just returned from having them installed. Some plastic on the front right lower rear of the wheel-well needed some trimming. I hope that's it but probably not since the other side looks like there's only a millimeter of space in the same area.

I just bought a used 2001 4runner limited with a about 140k miles and i wanted to go with the trd lift, but i'm having trouble on figuring out exactly what parts i need for the lift. I want to lift it about 3'' and im trying to avoid paying out the nose for it. Ive found two front coils and shocks for a tundra trd in texas for about 50$ but they are for the 2wd, will they work?

Not sure if this is the right section to post but this is related to the suspension. So I picked up a set of "pro comp" shocks off some guy on CL all 4 brand new for $70 so he said. Im not too familiar with pro comp but to me this shock does not look new. Especially the nut on the threaded portion and the overspray. Is pro comp quality this bad?

The 1999-2000 Highlander Edition came with 21" up front and 21.5" in the rear.

Noob needs guidance!
So I have a 2001 2wd (yes thats correct) and would like to put these on OME 881 and 890. Have read a lot of things on various posts, but honestly am very overwhelmed. Mostly a camping vehicle. Like the look of lifts. Using stock size wheels & tires. Not sure of a couple of things:
A: What shocks are recommended?
B: Will the ride be stiffer if/when daily driving?
C: Is there something better or softer ride?
Or am I just plain crazy?
