500-550 lbs/in Front, 160 lbs/in Rear
I've heard the same numbers. As others have pointed out, the front numbers seem odd considering the published spring rates for aftermarket "stiffer" springs. (ex. OME 288x being 500 lb/in). Still a bit curious to me.
Yeah that's the reason. Those Tundra shocks are for 2007 to 2012. These are the ones for 2000 to 2006 which look similar length to the 4runner ones:
Bilstein 5100 0-2.3" Lift Front Shocks for 1996-2002 Toyota 4Runner
Great, now I gotta get rid of those Tundra shocks. I guess I'll just get the 4runner shocks? What's the benefit of the 2000-2006 Tundra shocks over the 4runner ones?
I used the Tundra specific shocks (1996 - 2002) with the Tundra TRD Springs (1996-2002) so the shocks were matched with the springs. Sometimes that matters and played it safe with mine.
1st gen Tundra is 2000-2006.

It's been 15 years since I did mine but think I used pn from a 2002.
It's all on my YT channel so I assume people look for that info.
They are also valved stiffer and have a longer extended length (by a bit, not the giant amount for the later gens shown above).I believe the reason people do the Tundras is because they have 5 perch settings as opposed to the 4Runner's 3 perch settings
Call it a Bump or just reviving a 13 year old thread but here goes. I've read the original information here and appreciate the effort by those who are here to help.
My question is since the original postings has any technology or any options changed?
Leaning toward OME springs 2.5" and Bilstien shocks (as my experience with them on Jeeps has been great).
Those OME 2.5" springs are going to highly depend on how much weight you have up front. I have those currently (on OME nitrocharger shocks). I got them in anticipation of a bumper and winch (which I finally ordered the bumper and should have it hopefully in a week or two). Without the extra weight up front they are pretty damn firm. Only extra weight I have currently is aftermarket skids. That's my opinion at least. They aren't terrible by any means but you will definitely feel potholes.
The OP is a little deceptive on this as it does have the 881s as being for stock weight and the 883s as being for additional weight but this is not how OME advertises them. They clearly say the 881s are for 100-200 over stock and the 883s are for 200+.
Also you didn't really resurrect an old thread. This thread is used very regularly.
Geometry is the same for 2WD and 4WD 3rd gen 4Runners. (well, the upper arms are different in the rear, but not an issue in this case)(My first post, so sorry in advance if I'm doing something wrong here!)
Sorry to beat this thread to death, but I've spent days now trying to find out if the 99 tall coil option will work on my 2001 2wd.
