3rd gen dash kit?

I'm going to install an aftermarket stereo soon in my 3rd gen. I've searched here, Ebay, Al&Eds and Crutchfield, but can't seem to find a dash/din kit for the 3rd gen.

Do you guys know where I can get one?

I haven't actually taken apart the dash on my 4Runner before, so I apologize in advance if the answer to my question is "you don't need a dash kit for the 3rd gen" lol

Thanks for the link dude.

So just to confirm...we do have to use a kit of some-sort with the 3rd gens? Aftermarket stereo's don't just slide into the stock location without one?

Correct, you need the Metra or Scosche kit to mount and install a aftermarket head unit.

this is how I installed mine with the pocket on the top. You can mount it either way. Use the small face plate on the pocket to make it flush.

If you're installing a single din

Thanks for the link dude.

yes, but no need for a kit of your installing a double din. The OE bolt holes will line up with the HU.

I just put a Kenwood HU in my 99 LTD. Crutchfield shipped me the pocket for free. The HU used the factory radio brackets to mount into the dash. The factory brackets screw into the new HU. You don't use the slide in mount.

Crutchfield also included the wiring harness and full instructions free. Major score with them.
