3rd Gen Headrest Storage Solution

Brackets!

Price: $27/set (that includes shipping)

For those of you that want to color match your interior by painting the brackets I have some made up! I was not trying to color match the grey interior by using grey plastic so I still recommend painting them as I suspect it is too light of grey. I can not attest to how well it matches or doesn't match especially since my 4Runner is Oak/tan.

Unfortunately for those of you that would prefer the black that I have pictured I do not have a price yet. I am still in the process of sourcing affordable material but I suspect they will cost significantly more money to produce due to the cost of raw material. Truthfully to make the brackets look like they came from the factory I would recommend painting them (even the black ones) with a nice matching rattle can. :)

For those that are ready to purchase PM me your name and mailing address. After I get your PM I will share with you my PayPal email address or street address if you want to do an old school money order.

Thanks!

I was anxious to color match a set for my 4Runner tonight so I ended up painting a set. For paint I picked up a rattle can of Rust-Oleum Khaki Gloss. It seems like a very close match to my Oak leather. I did not primer before paint, maybe I should have as the sides require multiple coats to fill in the small pores. Using primer would have filled the small pores in quicker since primer can be recoated much quicker than paint. I did lightly sand all sides before painting.

Update: Do not use the the Rust-Oleum rattle can paint I have pictured on these brackets. The brackets pictured never ended up drying completely even after a second experimental attempt over primer. If you plan to paint your brackets use a spray paint specifically for plastics.

Update 2.0: The paint eventually cured after 48 hours. It is OK to use the Rust-Oleum if you don't mind the extended drying time. Sorry for the confusion.

I plan to stop at the post office at 9:00am central time tomorrow. If you have already made payment or will have done so by 9:00am tomorrow your brackets will be shipped at that time.

Thanks!

Wow, the paint came out great! Now, for the pics of it mounted in your tan interior.. :D

Also, shoot, I slept early last night and just woke up, guess I missed the payment deadline for today's shipping! I just paid the Paypal invoice (8:37am Pacific Time). Hope it arrives soon!

The brackets will be shipped out unpainted.

The PM that I sent out earlier today was only to warn those that want to paint their brackets when they get them. A plastic specific paint MUST be used, not the Rust-Oleum I have pictured above. I wanted everyone to be aware of this because the last thing that I want to happen is for someone to ruin their brackets with paint that never fully cures on plastic.

The thread will be updated this evening showing what paint DID work for me. Thanks!

For those wanting to paint their brackets I thought you might want to know what paint ended up working the best for me and even dried!...unlike the Khaki Gloss Rust'Oleum I have pictured above. The paint is a Valspar plastic specific paint. I bought mine at Lowe's.

I also have more brackets made up for those of you still wanting to order!
