3rd gen LED headlights!

I'll try to update some pics tonight. They're direct plug and play. No ballast (obviously). They come with pigtails that plug right into stock harness. Only thing is it's a little difficult to get them in using the waterproof boot that seals the bulb on the housing. But I got it so it can be done. May need to trim a little.

Any way you can measure how many watts each bulb is using? I know it says 20w on the description, but we all know how "accurate" the chinese products are with product spec.

I'm really curious how these look in person....

what Im most curious about is longevity. LED bulbs can easily overheat. I've seen similar drop in replacements that had fans attached to the back of each bulb to help with that problem.

Does that led bulb work with your low/high beams? I am looking at the gtlightingusa.com site and none of the led bulbs they have say anything about low/high beams.

t4ryota4life, the brights work as expected. You can def tell a difference with them on.

Found these on EBay... They were $45 a piece but I am very pleased! My HIDs took a shat so I wanted LED. Did some research and found these. Direct stock replacement. Well made and seem bright. Won't know til tonight. I'll post some pics this evening. Kinda nice not having ballasts too!

Nope it's low beam. I haven't been flashes by a single person yet and I've had them for a minute.

Yea, I'm thinking of buying these. I don't think I'm ever upgrading to the HIDs. Right now, all I have is the Philips X-treme Vision 9003. I'll try out the PIAAs other people have when this one goes out but these LEDs seem on par or better

Let us know how long they last for you and please note when it starts degrading on brightness or something (if it ever does).

Actually I just bought this and installed it last night. I'll be posting before and after pics soon.

I have a small problem though, while its on DRL, it is flickering pretty fast. As soon as I put it on low beam, it's good. High beam, also no problem.

Did this happen to you OP?

to my understanding, DRL do not provide full power(v) to the lamp, instead they run at a lower power. the reason your LEDs are flickering is they are not getting enough power to run them. this is also the reason headlight bulbs burn out faster in vehicles with DRL that utilize the headlights for the DRL. most newer vehicles will have a separate bulb or light just for the DRL or they have gone to LED specifically for DRL and keep the power(v) at the standard level -or a level for the specific LED used. our vehicles where in the early stages of the DRL fad, and so yeah it wasnt mastered yet at this time.

you will need to eliminate the DRL to use the LEDs.

I disabled the DRL by following the instructions on this link: 2002 4Runner: DRL Disable With On/Off Capability - YotaTech Forums
There's a little tab on the top of the DRL module that you push down on so you can remove the white box with all the wires.
Make sure you take a look at the picture and cut Pin 12.
I actually messed up and cut another black/yellow wire and ended up taking longer because I had to figure out which light I just cut. Turns out it was the Hi-beam. So I stripped the wire and my mechanic gave me a little piece to join them together (cylindrical metal in a cylindrical rubber ish piece?)

Anyways, I just got off my night class and going home I felt so much better because these headlights are a lot brighter than my Philips Xtreme bulbs.

Pictures go from Old, New, Old, New and so on.
I didn't get pictures on the road cuz I was too lazy to stop lol. And, I forgot to take pics using my old ones so there wouldn't be any comparison.

I wish there was an easier way of making the pics side by side: Old vs new
so you could see the difference better.

Any updates on these lights after a couple months of use? My Silverstar Ultras just died on me last night, and I would like to replace them with something equally as bright that will hopefully last me longer than a year (I think I am averaging 13 months on each of my last three sets of Silverstars).

Also, have any other users successfully run these with the stock dust covers?
