3rd gen muffler comparison

I've noticed while searching for a dedicated comparison video between stock mufflers and after market mufflers that there was a severe lack of them. This was a big deal to me personally because it was almost a toss up when I went to decide which exhaust to go with. Considering that changing your muffler can either A. Make your 4runner sound better or B. Make your car sound like a crap I thought that a comparison would be in order. I went with the Cherrybomb Vortex. Sorry if this has been done before, but I just haven't found one after a lot of searching.

Stock exhaust: http://youtu.be/C_o0AZuZI4Y

Cherrybomb Vortex: http://youtu.be/xIryliR36Ag

Under Acceleration: http://youtu.be/3sOjNa3zrTI

My goal was for a nice solid rumble at lower rpms but no drone at all on the interstate. The Cherrybomb Vortex accomplishes just that, isn't too loud but it's definitely there. Sorry if the audios not the greatest bc I took it with my iPhone so it's louder in person. Thanks!

This is probably where there aren't many videos. There are so many variables (including what you are playing back the videos on) that it's really hard to tell what it will sound like once installed. I was looking for some mufflers for my old Mustang a few years ago and none of the online videos (even from the muffler manufacturers) sounded anything like they did on my car.

Glad you found a muffler you like. I installed 3 sets on the Mustang before I found one I liked.

Just trying to help man haha

Can't really tell from the vid but does it sound about the same under acceleration as the stock muffler in your opinion? And I'm debating whether to get this or the flow master 40 series I've read a lot about both and now I know they both sound good but I've heard that with mufflers like these you'll have power loss, is this true?

I did this as well before buying a "thrush welded muffler".

Had summit price match it for like $24 shipped lol. I actually noticed a difference in light throttle acceleration, my factory muffler had 210k on it. Truck was breathing easier, I don't hammer on my truck, it RARELY see's over 2500 rpm's.

However, at start up, sub-2500 driving, it has a nice deep tone for a v6. I'm extremely happy with it. On the freeway it's louder then stock for sure, but it isn't DRONE. I noticed it the first time I went on the freeway, now I turn the stereo on barely and don't even notice it.

Cherry Bomb Vortex Mufflers 88101CB, I got it from Summit Racing, it's great for the money.

I have an 18" magnaflow and at about 50 or 60 in overdrive on a slight grade it makes everything in the truck rattle i mean mega drone. Does the cherry bomb have a drone to it?

:pound: you guys and these borla mufflers...do some research and read about the design of the mufflers. Then go to this website and see the difference.

No it's definitely louder under acceleration, but once up to about 50-60 it's gone. Zero power loss, don't know where you came up with that.

Someone on my Instagram awhile back said you can get power loss..I didn't know and that's good

You recommend it over the flow master 40 series though?

I've never seen that from anyone.... If anything it should give you MORE power because it's a more free flowing muffler and less restrictive. On 4runners it doesn't make hardly any difference unless you replace you're entire exhaust system. Yes id recommend it over the 40. It's nice and deep, but it doesn't drone at all. I've driven it for over 9 hours in 1 day and was completely fine.
