3rd gen nalgene holder.

Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum and I've wanted a 3rd gen runner since they first came out. Well guess what, I spent way to much money and bought me a 2000 4runner limited. Turners out blue book price for 4runners means about as much in Colorado as the countries debt makes a difference to Obamo. Not a lot! But non the less I finally got my runner and now I plan on having no money left for the rest of my life with all the plans I have for it. And this forum isn't helping anything except helping me spend my money before I even have it. I have no money left so I'm starting small.

With that said I have an issue with the interior of my runner. It's not a big issue but there is just no way that I'm the only one that wants to do something about it. I have nowhere to put my nalgene! If you drive a 4runner and don't own a nalgene than you need to make your way over to REI and buy 10. I own a ton and if I let it role around the back seat then I forget it and I just grab another one from the shelf.

So does anyone have a good way of building a cut holder big enough for a nalgene. Either in the center console, behind the center console, roof, I was even thinking to the front of the seat right under your leg. Just somewhere you can reach it from the driver seat. I don't want it to look cheap or anything I want it to look semi factory.

Any ideas!?

I can't stick the wife in the back seat. And she won't hold the water bottle on her lap. Especially with a skirt on lol

shove it between the passenger seat and the center console, or between your seat and the door, been doing both for a very long time haha

I think you guys are missing the point. Lol

I'm looking for mod. ideas. If you don't like something modify it. Don't cram if between the seats lol.

you should get a custom roof rack holder so it stays cold and out of the way of your wife. gotta get a sick roof rack first though.

That's an awesome idea haha, there's been so many times I just wanted to stick a drink on the roof to keep it cool. Just get a hose clamp and modify it so you can tighten it by hand if you are too cheap for a legitimate holder :D

By the way, REI is the shit :D

sorry...theres guys on here with earlier 3rd gens that've done cupholder mods I'm sure you could mimic, obviously just with a bigger cupholder

I'm actually wanting to get a bigger one lol. I want one of the 2liter nalgenes.

I actually like the idea of the roof rack water bottle holder lol. Perfect lately in colorado. Cold in 30 seconds frozen solid in 1min. But that comes after I attempt a roof rack build like the "bandit runners" rack. So sick. Def going to attempt one similar.

I keep mine on the floor, left front of pass seat. It's in a belt mount Lowepro water bottle holder that I have tethered to the front rail of the seat so it can't roll around.

best and simplest I've seen

this is what my bud came up with. it is very secure.

His genius thing is the Stainless Steel Camping Cup in the bottom of the holder. It gives the bag some structure and helps it maintain an open cylindrical shape - easier to slip the bottle into the holder.

How about a smaller bottle??

Blasphemy.

OP, I took the lid off the center console of my '85. My Nalgene sits real nice on it's side on top of the console, and does double duty as an arm rest. Once I run out of more important things to do, I'm going to carve up some wood and bolt it to the top of the console lid to make a slot the nalgene will slide into and be a little more secure.

Camelbak makes a 25oz bottle that fits my '02 center console perfectly. It's not quite as much as the 32oz Nalgene...but close enough. When I travel, I load up my Nalgenes and use them to refill the Camelbak. I'm not a fan of the Camelbak lid/straw combo, so I replace it with a Humangear (available at REI) cap.

I have thought about trying to put an S-hook somewhere on the passengers side so I can just hand mine. We always have a 32oz Wide Mouth with us where ever we go. You cannot beat the quality and Warranty of these things, I had my first one break the other month that was 7yrs old and they warrantied it with out any issues!

How about make something like this out of PVC and paint to color of your liking. Just use smaller PVC sized to fit. Drill larger holes in front to get screwdriver through and smaller holes in back for screws and then attach to door cards or other area in front of runner. Just an idea and should be cheap to make. Heck I might make some for extra cup holders in the truck myself.
