Excited to be on this forum just picked a 97 T4R, with 3 inch OME lift, front and rear lockers, and a bunch of other off road stuff that I am to new to truly describe and would sound like a D-bag in my attempt to do so. But as I learn will show you the progress. Got a really good deal, 2800 and had 186k miles on it. So far I have learned to change the breaks, and install new speakers. My awesome buds at Gas Alley here in El Paso put a supercharger in it for me and are showing me the trails here and in new Mexico. Lots of plans for it, new bumpers and tire carrier are on the list. So far this site has been super helpful as I am in medicine and not a mechanic by trade, but really liking getting my hands dirty. The attached pic is of Demitri (the most amazing toyota guy I know) and myself and our 2 rides on top of a hill in New Mexico. Mine is the green one.
Regards,
Jeff

Nice runner, sounds like you got a steal at that price! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it. I am also fairly new here, 2 months, and am in love with my t4r. Didn't quite get the steal that you got though! Congrats

Do the tranny oil cooler mod asap to avoid pink milkshake (Google it). That's what I would recommend first and formost. Every time I see a third gen owner - soccer mom, business guy or young kid I tell them the same.

x2.

The 60$ for the cooler, 20ish$ for additional parts, and two or three hours of work (stubborn hoses) is a small price to pay for the the peace of mind knowing you avoided an impending $2k catastrophe.

I need to get to know your friends.

Awesome deal on that, would easily got for 5-6k for a rig like that. Add the supercharger and you're looking at more like 7-8k. Have fun with it!
