Word. I don't mind hijacking this thread. Did you ever get your 4runner registered?

Nope, still waiting to see something in the mail. Or get pulled over. Or something else, like finding a friend to register it in a no-title-required state

Oh, it's waaaaaaay hard. The DMV told me that the truck should never have been sold, can never be registered to me, I have to take it back, and all that fun stuff. I guess if someone sells you a vehicle that was not theirs to sell, a bill of sale won't fix that problem.

That blows. I had a similar experience with a 1982 pop up trailer, which had been rotting in a driveway for 20 years.
The guy sold me his dad's trailer after his dad passed away. Bill of sale only. Tried to register, found out that the title and a lien on the title were in a banks name. But that bank didn't exist anymore. It had been bought by another bank, which had also been bought by another bank.
Then that bank didn't have any record of the the stupid thing, but was happy to assume ownership. Then I needed some official for the bank to release their ownership of the vehicle. Had to take some random bank guy to the trailer to take pictures of a pop up trialer with no keys, rotted tires, and in a very junked up state ( I like projects). Worth less than the cost of towning it to a scrap yard. Finally the bank releases ownership and I can get the title in my name. PITA.
I feel some of your pain.
If you do have to get rid of it I hope you take all your sweet mods and swap them over to another one.
