3rd Gen Scangauge II Owners!

In regards to the fillup mine took a few times and doesn't alway's accurate read. I'm not 100% sure why but the way mine is currently setup it will hit 0 miles to empty just below a 1/4 of a tank. I've tried re-calibrating it and everything to no avail. I get about 15 mpg except for my trip TO Colorado. I got almost 18mpg then but on the way home closer to 12mpg...I can careless about the mpg, never bothered me ever (alway's had hobbies that take LARGE amount of fuel...). I wouldn't mind it to be more accurate for the Mileage per tank report..

Anyone ever get this dialed in good?
 
I calibrated my 2002 and I think it's accurate. I don't look at miles to empty though, in fact don't even know if that's an option for me. I average 19, 23 on cruise control on freeway

Just did a 350? drive down into the mountains last night to climb St Helens. It was 140 on the freeway, but the gauge showed steady climbing as high as 226 once on the steep forest roads. Yikes. Good to watch these numbers though. Oil(or coolant) held at 182 practically the whole time.

Side note for you Scangaugers...is RPM worth watching? I don't even know what the RPMs should be at certain speeds so maybe something else to watch is more useful
 
where or how do you enter these code in to check Trans temp? I recently bought the ScanguageII and want to monitor trans temp.

I’m new to 4runners I general. Bought my first one 5ish months ago. I have a 96’ limited, 3.4, 4 wheel drive. I was wondering if anyone here has a scan gauge II installed on their 96, if so do you feel it’s worth the money.

If I’m looking correctly my OBDII port is in the engine compartment. Thanks I’m advance.

Obdll port should be right in front of your right leg next to the center console. I have a 96 as well and I bought the gauge when I was having water temp sender issues. Since I replaced that sender I haven’t really used the gauge except to look at things here and there when I felt like plugging it in.

The diagnostic port in the engine bay is NOT an OBD-II port - it is the Toyota Techstream port, and totally different. Your OBD-II port is next to your right leg, as Dezerts10 said.

Depending on your year you will not be able to see it. I think 96-98 you won't be able to access it.

New SGII for my 01 Limited

I've added those XGauge codes to my scangauge, especially interested in TFT... but it doesn't read any info. Am I missing something on the setup or is it in the wrong mode?

Any help would be great. Thanks guys!

Quick question for you guys with success with getting the TFT code to work. What version on your scangauge II is needed to input xgauge codes to get TFT. I am currently running version 3.17 and was wondering if I still get the TFT input, or will I need an upgrade? Anyone here with version 3.17 with TFT xgauge success?

Any feedback would be appreciated!

I think I read it depends on the year of your truck. My 1996 doesn’t read because the ecu doesn’t call for that signal I was told or I read somewhere. Version on the gauge isn’t the issue.
