Torque Pro Transmission Temp 5th Gen

For those of you that use the "Torque Pro" app on Android, and want to get your transmission temp working on the App with your 5th Gen, listed below is what you need to put into the custom PID settings section. I don't think you can damage anything, but USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I am no expert on this stuff and don't claim to be.

I am not giving a tutorial here, just the most important piece of correct data as listed below for a 5th Gen 2010 to current 4Runner. I found the correct data difficult to find, and I am putting this here in hopes of helping other 5th Gen owners. I tried some other settings I found on the Web that did not work... this below DID. If you want a full how to tutorial on Torque Pro there are YouTube and other tutorials on the web to help, the crucial data below is what I had trouble finding to make this work correctly. Keep in mind that if you add spaces in the formula it will not work...

Just to be clear, this is what worked on my 2017, and should on other 5th gens. From what I researched, there is seems to be two temp sensors in the A750 trans. One I believe is Pan temp, and one is returning from the Cooler temp... change the values in the formula below from "A" and "B" to "C" and "D" and it will get you the returning from cooler temp instead of Pan temp. You can run two different Gauges in the App for both readings if you want. I did not try the 2nd sensor, because I am only interested in Pan temp for such things as checking transmission fluid level.

I have found some threads out there on this forum and others, but some of the data has been wrong or confusing so hopefully this helps anyone out there trying to set this up. Screen shot attached from App of my Gauge setup...

Or you can install a much better stereo to replace the horrible head ache creating factory one and just have any ECU info you want on your screen.

I used a Kenwood 994S head unit with a maestro module wired in to retain all factory steering wheel controls, show all ECU info on screen and used a kenwood 520 Dashcam which integrates with the head unit so i can view videos from the recordings or whatever. Or pull SD card out and go view them on my computer if I want.

Thats cool, but to be honest I rather spend the money on ammo, not really into stereo systems... I already have the phone, my only cost was the $20 bluetooth adapter and the $5 Andriod app.

I use scan gaugeII reason is I have a few vehicles so I simply plug in the SGII and I programed before so takes 2 min to change from one vehicle to the other .

Toyota has 2 sensors for tranny temps .. one is the pan so that is TTP,, the other torque converter which I call TTT,,, I monitor these temps all the time mounted on the steering column ,,

I know these are accurate because when the vehicle sits for 24hrs and the temps outside do not change much both temps read the same as the air temp .. I also monitor other temps and MPG etc.. tool works good and I got all the program info DATA from the SGII web site ..takes a bit to go thru the process pushing buttons..
had this for 2yrs I like it ..works good on GM vehicles also .even my 1996 GM sedan.

Scan Guage sounds cool, but it's $150+. My main desire was simply the transmission temp. Everything else is just extra.

I also monitor engine temp and the alternator voltage . the tool is also a good buy if you have other vehicles and I did call customer support in Arizona , the support is excellent .. yes expensive but many members do spend a lot of $$$ on these vehicles with 2miles on them LOL...

I've never used scan guage but here are the pids I use on Torque pro.

Pan temps ((((A * 256) + B ) * (7/100)-400)/10)
Torque converter ((((C * 256) + D ) * (7/100)-400)/10)

These are all pids hacked by the prius crowd, but a lot of them can be used by the 5th gens. It's a zip file so some apps might not open it properly.

the RFX use the 046105820000 ,,,,,,,,,, RXD number the pan temp 2808 ,,,,,,, RXD the torque converter 3808 ....

I label the pan temp TFP /////////// the torque conv temp TTT....
