People do both. I originally bolted mine and then welded them a bit as an after thought. Most you buy are designed to be welded on.

they come a little too long, i cut them down to length i wanted and welded them on.

I like the 90 degree bends in front. I saw in your other post that you used 2 inch DOM? I wanted to use 2" tubing when I had mine built but only had access to 1.75" tube bender dies.

The 2in is definitely beefy, and also gives me a better platform to step on when I want to reach the roof rack. The sliders will be rhino lined and have skateboard grip tape in certain spots to keep them from being too slick. Still debating on tacking on some top covers

I say yes if you're considering it. Provides a little more surface area for a step and gives some protection from road debris.
Did your fabricator already have a 2 inch tube bending die? Mine didn't. I thought about buying one for him but later decided to just go with the standard 1.75".

Not to beat a dead horse but I had a couple questions;
1) what's the most common angles to set sliders at? Not very many seem to list it
2) Is shrockworks the only true bolt on set? I know many fabricate stuff to make theirs bolt on and I have no problem doing so, but wanted to know my options first
There's so many threads on sliders but almost none of them are anywhere near recent :deadhorse:

Seems like most sliders are straight out or slightly kicked up. When I did my 4XInnovation sliders I tacked the tubing straight out from the frame about 3/16" bellow the body seam. I then used jack stands to kick the slider up to an angle I liked. That happened to be about 5 degrees. Doesn't sound like much but it's definitely noticeable.

The Shrockworks are angled up at 30 degrees. Very tucked up into the body but nearly useless as a step. I wasn't after more steps - just protection. Naturally, a guy pulled away from the curb without looking and we made contact while my sliders were being still shipped to me. I drove up over him and tore off most of his minivan's plastic nose cone and only got some cladding scrapes and a dent in the front 1/4 panel. Wish I'd had the sliders - would have been golden . He was an older hood-geezer without any insurance (or license?) and we called it a wash. Urban struggle.....

The Shrockworks sliders aren't truly bolt-on. There are no usable bolt locations from the factory - the slider install require drilling the frame and the use of 'stick nuts' to bolt them on.
I do have a set of them with treadplates, and they were welded on.
