3rd Gen T4R DIY Maintenance, Repair and Modification Videos

I look through youtube a good bit and not sure if you have to sign up in order to subscribe or give thumbs up for videos but if signing up is what it takes I will do that just for your videos. I already share and give you guys credit to the few 3rd gen owners I know about your vids. I even told my wife about and your helpful videos. She's actually watched a few with me.

Nicely said, pretty much sums up my feelings as well.

As far as YouTube... It's part of Google now. So if you have a email through Google you can just sign in with that info.

When Sean and I first got started, we put our valve cover gasket video up on the big screen and our girlfriends watched it with us over some beers. Now they know better and find something else to do while we're talking videos and trucks. When my girlfriend see's me online surfing the forum, she just walks by and says. "Trucks, Trucks, Trucks, Trucks, Trucks, Trucks, Trucks."

Hey Tim, I love your idea. The key to "finding" the videos is in the title and the body of the text. A good test is to google some videos you have done and see what comes up.

Hey Dudes,
infamousRNR and I have another Toyota Time Production for you. This one covers replacing all the drive belts on the front of the engine - Power Steering, AC, and Alternator.

Here's the video and Enjoy the Show!

We got another video coming your way guys...

This one is on the replacement of the drive belts. mtbtim and I filmed this morning and I should have this one edited and up by the end of the week!!!

What does everyone think about these in depth HOW TO videos?...
Do you guys have any feedback? Any comments or suggestions to make them better?

We would love for you guys to view these videos & subscribe & share with your 4runner friends so we know how we are doing

I want to give a Shout Out to my partner in crime infamousRNR (aka Sean). I'm seriously impressed with his video production and I'm not just saying that because he's my partner in making these videos. The close-ups, slowing down sections, speeding up sections, the cutting to a pic of the FSM while I'm talking about a procedure or torque specs, adding text to the screen (part #'s, torque specs, procedures, etc), not to mention all the time the he spends taking out all my UH's and UM's and other parts when I talk too much or stumble on my words is a lot of work. It's not an exaggeration that the dude spends the better part of a day editing a video trying to make it the best he can for the viewing public.

Yeah, I have my part too, doing research for the repairs and trying to present and explain things in a logical way that people can follow and understand but Sean's contribution is making these videos WAYYYY better than if I was doing my hack job of editing the videos.

So THANKS Bro! Your efforts are admirable.

Not sure how involved this is but I need to replace a leaking front axle seal. I'd like a video on that if possible.

So you have a leak where the CV axle shaft enters the differential?
I'm not near my truck right now but in this diagram I have oil dripping from where 9 is pointing to. Nothing above or near this area seems to have a leak so I assume its a seal in there.

#9 is pointing to the inner CV axle joint where it meets the inner boot. If something is dripping from there, it's either grease coming out of the boot or something is leaking from above and accumulating onto the CV axle. If the fluid has a thin consistency, I'd say something is leaking from somewhere above. If it's more of a thick consistency, it's probably some of the grease from the inner joint of the CV axle.

When you get a chance, examine the inner CV axle boot and look for any tears and check to see the boot clamps are still on there securely. If the boot and clamps look good, i'd do a better search of the areas above the CV axle to see if you can find something that is leaking from above.

So I was getting a P0440 code, smoke tested, checked valves and hoses and it wouldn't go away, so I consulted with my local dealership and a couple independent mechanics. Conclusion was to put on a new EVAP Canister. So I did, now I cannot fill up without the pump popping after a few seconds. I have tried putting the handle at every depth, angle (upside down, sideways, etc), and fueling rate. No matter what the pump gets tripped and I have to ever so slowly manually pump in the fuel. I have been searching and searching. If the diagram I found is correct I installed everything correctly and to boot I am not getting a code anymore. Would you have an idea?

The fuel filler tube has 2 small tubes running along side it, those are the breather hoses. Make sure they arent pinched off or routed funny.

Just spent most of the evening under the truck looking all the lines over. Nothing is kinkend bent or even seemingly touched. my fear is it's directly related to the changing of the charcoal canister.

Where is this Evap Cannister located? I'm looking at my FSM and I can't seem to find it.

Just wondering how your problem filling the gas tank could be connected to your replacement of that part.

Evap canister on my 01 is behind the gas tank and above the spare tire.
They are related cause canister is what traps fuel vapor and doesn't let it vent directly to atmosphere. EPA seemed to think that was a bad thing. Lol
I just feel they are related cause this happened immediately after changing the evap canister. That's the only thing to change, and before this never happened.

Ok, maybe I don't have one on my 2000. I was looking at the pages related to the fuel tank in my FSM and I didn't see an Evap Canister in the parts schematic.

If the fuel pump nozzle keeps shutting off, it's got to be because the fill tube and/or tank isn't venting correctly and the fuel is backing up in the tube and not draining down. At least that's what makes sense to me.

It's definitely a venting issue. I took apart the upper part of the filler hose from the rubber section that leads to the tank. There were no blockages. I ran a rope through the make sure.
The other three hoses that connect to the filler neck weren't bound or damaged so idk. I need to drive it and use some gas before I can try to fill it again. This is gonna be a long annoying issue to fix

96-00, the charcoal canister is located under the hood against the driverside fender. In the fsm the, schematic should be under 'Emission control: Evaporative emission control system '.
