how about a video on blowing out the drain channels and lube/service sunroofs

I've heard you have to be careful blowing them out because you can force the rubber drain tubes right off the fittings and then you're hosed, pardon the pun. I've looked at the drains and the fronts are easy to get to but how you access the rear drains, I don't know. How do you get back in there with anything?

I remember reading that blowing them out from the bottom up would be smarter so you don't blow the tube off the fitting but I couldn't find where the tubes ran to.

It would be a good video because blocked drains are a common enough problem so I'll need to do more research to figure out how to do it.

BTW, I'm going to be in your state very soon for some mountain biking. I plan on riding in Roseburg, Falls City, Sandy, Hood River, Mount Hood, Bend and Oakridge.

No way! We might ride the McKenzie River trail on this trip. I've ridden it once before but I'm not sure if my buddy wants to do it. If we end up doing it, I'll stop by the ranger station and say hi.

I am at the resort, often near the lodge, Clear Lake Resort
that would be interesting to meet you if it works out
its getting so popular ( the trail) its often bumper to bumper with people and bikes, so if you've done it b4 I could see not wanting to do it again. weekends are a congo line.
Mondays and Tuesdays are my days off and I'm usually out on the back forest service roads , exploring with my 4runner or fishing even more remote lakes.

I think for those who watch it, it'll be best if you can include making of a crank pulley tool, starter bump method to remove the crank bolt, all relevant seals (really just cam, crank), new idler pulleys, new tensioner pulley, new TB hydraulic tensioner, new crank bolt, water pump+gasket, new accessory belts, dipstick O-ring, thermostat+gasket+jiggle valve setting, etc -- the wholeeeeeeeeeee deal A-Z

Since draining coolant is a part of this procedure, you could do a section on the block drain and how it differs from the radiator drain... etc.

yeah it'll be a lot of work but it'd be the ultimate TB video for the 5VZ-FE for years to come.

We're going to do most of what you mentioned. I doubt I'm going to make a crank pulley tool because I already bought the special tool for this but we'll mention how people do make their own tool and Sean will show some pics of people's homemade tools to give the viewer some ideas.

I've never attempted the block drain because I know there's not much left in the block to really warrant the time to do this step but I think you're right that it would be beneficial to show it for those that want to know how to do it.

I haven't bought this kit yet but I'm heavily considering it. Since I started wrenching more and making videos with [MENTION=102606]infamousRNR[/MENTION], I've spent a crapload of money on tools and quickly ran out of room in my toolbox. I now have a second toolbox and it's also full. I'm either going to have to stop buying tools or sell some of my bicycles to make room for another toolbox.

This shit is fun though. It's great to have so many tool options in my arsenal now. Sean and I replaced the trans mount and motor mounts on my rig last week and the motor mounts were pretty tight to get out. A 3/8" flex head ratchet with 120 points of engagement from Gear Wrench, a long flex head box end wrench from Tekton and a short flex head box end from Gear Wrench made the job much more straight forward. If I didn't have these tools, I honestly don't know if I would have been able to get them out.

BTW, a new video is coming soon. We did a front diff swap (East Coast Gear Supply with ARB Locker) for [MENTION=142071]sunsetrunner[/MENTION]. And, there will be other videos following right behind it. I did a mountain bike trip to Oregon for a few weeks and was gone fighting a couple fires in California but I'm back home and wrenching with Sean again. Stay tuned!

One can't ever have enough tools, though some have much more merit than others, as least as utility goes. I have found that I'd rather buy the tool and save time and effort rather than try and make something else work. My brother, well almost the opposite.

I don't know Tim if you got a bad Dewalt DCF883. I am going to be removing a caliper soon and it should be able to remove the 90ft/lb bolts with ease. Still my favorite tool.

I've been very happy with every Tekton tool I have bought so far, they are perfect for the garage mechanic.

I just ordered a couple Tekton long swivel head ratcheting wrenchs that will help when I have to pull my tranny. I could have used them this weekend when I was pulling my donor tranny.
