If I could disable my sunroof and magically retrieve the extra headroom that non-sunroof model's have, then I'd do it.

Even though it is not the most tasteful mod. I got to give you credit for how clearly you portrayed the said task. I think you should make more write ups even if there already is one. Your directions were crystal with good pictures. Good job. Keep em coming. I'm not going to disable mine no way but gotta give credit where credits do nicely done.

I'm filing this under my "never do this" mods. I love my sunroof! It's the first vehicle I've had with one, and I specifically looked for a runner with one.
I can't wait for spring to start so I can open her up, and I hate when it starts to get too cold to keep it open.
The sunroof open, all windows down and my back window down on a nice day...man, you can't beat it!

I firmly believe that every vehicle should be a convertible. Failing that, every vehicle should have a sunroof.

Mine has been stuck for about a year - after seeing how easy access to the motor is I might give it a look....

There are two keys to sunroof longevity:

-lube every six months
-avoid crud in the tracks by ALWAYS closing it while parked. Stuff falling off trees is the killer and you are only safe while moving.

I couldn't live without mine in warm weather.

Sorry [MENTION=46730]MONTYMTB[/MENTION]...I guess I didn't clarify myself well enough! I was attempting to sneak in a post during a meeting! I was hoping for a write up with pictures actually showing where the cable are, do I have to drop my headliner, and do you lube the whole system or just a pulley , which will spread the grease out evenly?!? I hope I didn't offend you by my weak writing abilities during my meeting!

^ 100% IF you live in Utah or Cali.... Not here in Canada, you would only get maybe 2 months of the summer to use the convertible top.

Sorry, no pics.

1. Open roof.
2. Stand up in hole. (Do these first two in order!)
3. If it's metal and moves, or something moves over it, hit it with white lithium grease.
4. If it's rubber, put a smear of Jack's Magic lube, silicone sex lube or your favorite equivalent.
5. Sit down.
6. Cycle roof a few times. Cable runs across the tracks and spreads the grease along its length. (Do 5 & 6 in order!)

Takes two minutes.

No need to take anything apart. If there is a lot of crud, blow out the tracks with compressed air. In tree-rich NJ, I have to do this spring and fall. I'd say once a year is good in tree-poor areas.

I greased with white lithium and it slowed my roof down to a crawl, WTH? Ordered a used motor off ebay and will install it soon, hopefully that's the problem. I will not be without a sunroof no matter the cost, super nice in the spring and summer.
