Definitely seeing that AOR bumper and FN 5 Stars a lot here and on the Gram. Looking to get them in gunmetal for the Thundercloud Metallic paint.

Yeah it’s gotten a lot more popular of late. I’ve had it on mine for close to 2 years now. Cant pretend that I wasn’t inspired by Ripcord.

This is an old pic from before I started adding mods, but it was funny to see how mad the home depot guy was when I pulled up with 4R to hook up to the mini-ex and he was like "you can't pull this with that truck" and I said "watch me" :D

Newly registered but long time lurker; I used to visit the site, a decade ago when I had my 2000 SR5 2WD, but never had any urge to mod a 2WD and post about it.

Finally got a 4WD 3rd gen, also have a 2nd gen 4WD, and really happy to start my build mainly for light off-roading.

*The previous owner installed 3" spacers in the front and back and I can already see how it's damaged the right UBJ (needs to be replaced) and the CV axles are angled really bad.

My first updates are to remove the spacers and replace with Bilstein 5100's all around, OME 880/960, replace Upper/Lower BJ's, Sway bar stabilizer links and sway bar suspension bushings, replace sparkplugs, filters, drain plug gaskets, a differential drop kit as I feel that will help with further aligning the CV axles after a lift, and possibly a JBA High Caster UCA (I would have to return the upper (OEM) balljoints if I go this route.)

If you have any experience with the (OEM) upper balljoints vs. the JBA UCA
(with their own balljoint set up) then any suggestions about the later would be awesome.

*The previous owner(s) had damaged the front bumper valance and taped over it. - I'm going to leave it until I replace that or the bumper itself after I address the bad lift, broken r. upper balljoint, and replace the lower balljoints (precautions).

I have that same suspension setup but with the long travel rear shocks. I would recommend getting a panhard correction kit as well because mine gets pretty squirrely on the highway. Nice platform though.

Got the lift (5100s and OME, still need to take the fronts up one notch though) and grill lights installed. REALLY want to spring for a new set of SCS wheels and 33s now. Or maybe a new metal bumper set and BXBuilt headlights. Ugh choices choices....

I also read into panhard correction kit, also looked into Timmy's Youtube, and was convinced that it's a good investment without a doubt. *I just ordered mine after you reminded me :) Thanks! :hungry:

*What rear shock part number did you go with in your set up? Do you mean to say that you have aftermarket UCA's on your set up? Or, did you keep your balljoints OEM?

I'm in the process of waiting for parts to arrive and am still juggling around potential changes, the UCA's being one of them. As for the rear shocks in your case, I was hoping to get some feedback since it looks like I'm nearly building what you've already got :)

have you considered SPC upper control arms? I have them on my 4runner and love them, they offer caster + camper adjustment and utilize a sealed greaseable ball joint no noise or constant servicing. if you already know about them then ignore all that lol

Don't have the part number, but here's the link:

Long Travel Bilstein 5100 Rear Shocks for 1996-2002 Toyota 4runner

Definitely will need upgraded UCA's. I don't run them right now, but as a result with my 285/75r16 open country's, i have to run a bit of positive caber so I wouldn't scrub the UCA's. The long travel rear shocks give you extra articulation and you won't be able to feel the rear end over normally jarring bumps...it's pretty amazing. handling is just like that of a lifted vehicle, but it's not unnerving.

Is that picture on the bridge in SC or is that over in the GA side? I live in columbia and am always looking for new places to visit.

How long have you had your SPC UCA's? - I'm really curious about the cost of replacing UBJ's on aftermarket.
