Here is my 1998 2WD 4Runner. Just got the new wheels/tires on it yesterday.

Stock rear lift, 3/8" spacer in the front (lifted it about 5/8")
16x8 wheels (from Wheeler's Offroad)
285/75R16 Toyo All-Terrain tires (32.8" height)

I also put in a 4.30:1 rear third member out of an older V6 pickup/4Runner (original was 3.73:1).

Hey so did u NEED to go with the wider rims to fit the tires or was the little lift in front enough to get the new rubber under there??

It is a 2002 4Runner SR5 Sport Edition. I put a 3" Old Man Emu Lift on it (Would recommend this lift to ANYONE! Awesome Ride)! With Pro Comp Wheels and 33" Nitto All Terrains.

Well my original rims were 15"s so I didn't really have a choice but to get some new ones (I picked up the tires used for $250). The Wheeler's Offroad ones are just what I was looking for.... Black, 16" and an inch wider than stock.

The tires probably wouldn't fit to great without the little front lift, they would rub quite a bit. With the small spacer lift I put on it they only rub occasionally when turned near full-lock.

Bigger tires and wider wheels!... and that would be a clean truck. But don't go to high on the lift now... I can't stand the look of all these "ass-high" lifted Runners.

Yea I feel the same way. I'm gonna keep it clean and mean! gonna do a daystar spacer kit. What do u recommend? I'm thinking just 1" spacers in the front (supposedly yields 2" of lift) and then fitting some bigger rubber under there and possibly some spidertrax. Whattaya think?

Ya that sounds pretty good. Just make sure they are the spacers that go in-between the strut and the coil (pre-load), not the spacers that just go on top of the whole strut assembly. Believe me, you will save lots of trouble down the road by doing this. The top-spacers and lots of stress to the ball-joints when at full droop. And some Spidertrax spacers would look great. Definitely the best company to buy spacers from.

What are the signs of ball joints going bad? I have the Daystar lift on mine and I'm not sure how they were put on (my fiance put it on). I've noticed some weird noises and differences in driving lately..we're having a hard time pin pointing the problem.

Wow I love the look of your truck. Clean and mean as I would say. Im just curious as EXACTLY what kind of lift stuff you did. I'm looking at a spacer kit right now and I wanna buy asap but I'm torn on what sizes to go with. I want the look you have. Not too jacked up just want to be able to put some bigger meaner tires on with minimal effort and good appearance. So what u runnin??

In those pictures, completely stock '99 suspension. It's a Highlander and has the tallest factory coils. The Daystar spacers that I have listed in my sig are still sitting on my work bench...waiting to be installed. Currently it's about 1/4" lower from ground the fender in the rear than the front. I like a little raked look, so my 1.5" spacers should net me about an 1" higher in the rear, which will be perfect.
