ABS is actually really wonderful. That whole thing about its just for people that can't drive is a sterotype. People couldn't drive right when cars DIDN'T have ABS plus there will ALWAYS be someone stupid behind the wheel. The current version of ABS was honed on the race track so you can not only brake later and harder but have more stability when entering the corner. Trust me drive a nicely setup car with and without ABS and tell me which has better feed back. Thats the whole point of ABS is CONTROL! If I remember right my friends 02 has ABS as well. Now for this whole 3rd gen vs. 4th vs. 5th is just a pissing match to me. I've driven almost all versions both on the road and off it and they handle very well and can take a beating. Now if your talking stock 3rd is slightly better off road, while the 4th is better on road but if your talking modded then it only comes down to two things, MONEY and TIME.
I don't know who this guy is but I like him , lol
Yeah you guys got me thinking now my views on abs might be outdated , I know I don't like it on my truck
Like said above it's probably got better over the years and thai telling me what's up and the improvements is making me think differently about that one ,
That.said though the most rugged truck on earth.is a 80s era hilux, in the most remote places on earth those things are still rolling tough and you have to partially credit it to the lack of things like abs computers, fuel injection And such, but then again I may just be in the old timer mindset , lol
The only point in this whole thread that I don't think is my own personal preference is from the box generally speaking the 3rd gen is better then the 4th.gen off.road...
The abs transfer case , mechanical vs. electrical , blah blah , is just me , and what I think about it by no means gospel.
I've been enjoying this and learning a thing or two in the process except when people start being stupid and go with personal attacks instead of making valid points , I don't know about you guys but I'm enough of a man to admit when im wrong.
And I'm wrong ..maybe...on the abs thing , as I trust what you guys are saying and it makes sense I just need to own a truck with a newer.system in it I guess.
I still feel though that in the life of the truck it is cheaper and more reliable not to have abs or computer controlled components,
Again not a 3rd vs. 4th thing here
Just a general statment
