4.7L V8 block interchangeability

Looking to rebuild a 2007 4runner 4.7L, which blocks are compatible? i know the 2005+ have the variable timing, so im wondering if the 03-04 are compatible? and also from the Sequoia and Tundra?

Short answer - No.
Oil passages to feed the VVTi oiling system were cast into the non-vvti, but not drilled out.
Also mounting points for the SAIS pump were not cast. So if you want to bring your rig back to EPA compliance, that would be tough.

For an off road application, it would be do-able with a good machine shop.

so stick with blocks that was original with the VVti heads and i should be ok? And is the same true if i get it from a Tundra or Sequoia?
