Okay, so it's the same shooter that hit two places (apparently some Naval strategic defense building which was poorly guarded as well?) I just heard a snippet of this when I was paying for parts in the lobby at work today so I didn't have all the information (though it doesn't seem like there's much to go by anyways.)

I mean, quick draw prejudism says the guy's a terrorist plant (likely ISIS) and this is possibly the beginnings of small coordinated guerrilla attacks on US soil...

Secondary prejudism says he's a Islamic nut job with a beef against the US.

Logic says, it COULD be either of the above; or this guy is a complete whack job and HAPPENS to be middle eastern with no ties to terrorism or Islamic extremism. Without further evidence, all we can do is jump to conclusions based on the facts presented. (A Middle Eastern man shot up two military installations, one which you would think would be better defended, and killed US soldiers.)

I can guarantee you one thing for sure though, the Democrats will not waste a second to let the bodies cool before throwing around gun control; and the Republicans will not waste a second before the blood is even mopped up to demand bombings on everyone in the Middle East and Internment Camps for all Middle Easterners in the US. It's kind of sad that our politics have become that predictable...

Yet heart disease kills how many service members per year? What about weapon related accidental deaths to our service men and women? Crazed lunatics exist everywhere, but the real losses are being amassed by our #1 enemy, our own decisions. You can't make a profit as a gun company if people are only scared of heart disease, though.


I'm quite sorry for the losses of these men, and the losses for their families. Yet, terrorism is really a very small issue in the US compared to far larger, internal social and health problems. I'm so upset about it that I want the real dangers facing our communities and service men/women. I can promise you that far fewer are in any sort of danger posed by terrorists than are by the aformentioned reasons.


Perspective, gentlemen. Let's not forget to use reason and look at the bigger picture when we're develping our perspective and response.

I've been to combat and have seen first hand how bad things can be. You keep thinking we are an untouchable nation. The crazy Americans you refer to include vets that took an oath to protect this country from enemies foreign and domestic. Something is going to happen and when it does the sheep of this country will be happy the "crazy" Americans are around to fight. Again hope it's some random Muslim nut job but with ISIS growing and making threats it could be the start of several small attacks. So thanks for labeling me and if shit does hit the fan don't worry I'll fight along side my brothers active, former , and retired to keep this nation safe. To be fair, I've always been highly distrustful of everyone and everything, prepared for the worst, and for the most part have adopted the saying:

"Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet"
(Pretty sure that one has been around since before WWII, but I keep seeing General Mattis credited with that...)

It's probably from my Eastern European heritage and experience of how truly ignorant, arrogant, and spoiled this country is about their "freedom;" but it's what has kept me alive all these years.

It's not about wanting an attack on US soil, it's about expecting one to happen and not being surprised when it does. Most people in the US fail to understand what "warning signs" means and the most often heard thing in the US seems to be "there just was no signs that this was going to happen." When there's been a clear established pattern of ignorance and negligence from all sides, this extends to pretty much every facet of our society; we would rather watch Dancing with the Stars than pay attention to the issues in our country and the world.

Yes, but then we can't always say that THEY'RE the threat, and that all problems, dangers, and immediate threats are because of THEM. The real question is, which countries do our corporations need access to now? Oil was taken care of in Iraq, and the pharmeceutical companies have plenty of access to opium now for America's overwhelming dependency and additiction to pharmeceutically produced opiates. Where can we pin ISIS(L) to be now?

We've lost literally thousands of innocent Americans to non-battle based terrorism in the past two decades. I wonder what the innocent civilian losses are in Iraq/Afghanistan/Yemen? As long as we recognize that it's our duty proclaimed by GOD to cleanse those countries of the terrorist threat, we should continue to expect backlash on our own soil.

Look up pictures and video of the type of destruction happening in those countries. Those bullets, that shrapnel does not discriminate, it only goes where it is sent, and there tends to be more innocents downrange than true targets. Those innocents eventually convert to something more sinister when they have a grudge against those who have destroyed their homes, businesses, and ripped apart their families.

These young men who have it out against the United States are not just religious zealots, they are of a generation that has lived mass destruction of their homlands at the tips of barrels they could never defend against. I would fight back against that presence, too, if such a mass attack was happening on my home soil. We are creating a generation who is even more hate-fillled towards us than the previous, and with the creative control of politically/economically driven leaders who hide behind the guise of religious directives, they can be manipulated to do their worst deeds against the same types of innocents being slaughtered on their own soil. Is it wrong? Absolutely. It's despicable. Should we take a step back and try to actually understand the reason for it? Hell yes. But why do that when we can just label them as religious nuts on a misson and say that THEY'RE the problem, the enemy?

Combat is something you'll never understand, unless you've been there.

Please don't misinterpret or generalize my remarks to one particular poster as a any sort of disrespect towards our countries service members, active or otherwise. My recently passed grandfather was 78th infantry in WWII and was a benchmark of what men should be measured against. He also never talked about his experiences or said a bad word about anyone.

However I'm confident in our nations ability to protect itself domestically without the need for this fantasy red dawn thing certain and hopefully few people seem to lust after.
