$40 homemade load bars, no factory rack

Ive been thinking about doing this as well because the factory rack is expensive from my local junk yards as well. I also want to fab a low profile custom roof rack in the future and this would make a good base to mount it to. I was also curious about how close the crossbar gets to the roof and the center.
