400w port retrofit for pre-facelift SR5

We have a 2012 SR5, so our port in the cargo area is limited to a 12V lighter plug. Has anyone managed to retrofit the newer/higher trim 400W/120V port? I've searched and haven't found a thread explicitly discussing/explaining if it can/has been done. (if there is such a thread, please point me to it)

If it CAN be done, what is required? Wiring harness and the trim panel that has the outlet?

What you gots is 12v DC power only.

To add the 120v AC you would need to add an appropriately sized inverter to go from DC to AC. Then you would need all new wiring to handle the higher amperage. That would require new fuses and switches to turn things on and off. Then would need to use an Add a fuse to an existing ignition fuse so the thing can only run when the ignition is on. Lastly you would need the post facelift outlet. That is assuming your cars alternator has enough power to run all the existing systems and the new inverter.

The post facelift inverter runs at 400w when parked but only at 100w when driving fyi. Pretty big PITA.

The question is why do you need 120v in the back? A portable battery station would cost less than having to get all the above professionally installed and you could plug it into your existing 12v plug to charge it. I have an ecoflow River 2 Max and it works great for my fridge. Charging would take longer for you on 12v only as you can dual charge when you have the post facelift setup.

Thanks for the info. Very appreciated. From what I've been reading and discussing with a Toyota tech friend of mine, it's just not worth the retrofit and it'd be better to just run an aftermarket set-up. It would have been nice to have an oem looking set-up, but it's just not feasible.

As for why I don't use a portable battery station: we don't have a roof top tent and sleep in the vehicle, so there's no room for it.
