I should warn you that the medium duty spring isnt good for higway/windy conditions. i would sugest that you get a heavy duty spring. Amazon.com: Firestik SS-3H Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Antenna Spring: Car Electronics then you would need the stud mount, Amazon.com: Firestik Stud With Screw-On Coaxial Termination for Antenna Mirror Mounts - Firestik K-4A: Car Electronics
This works very well in both conditions! but for the trails keep the medium duty spring so it can move more and its less likely to snap.

Yeah I ended up just getting a heavy duty spring/mount combo because I read through your thread and saw that you had issues with the medium duty spring. Thanks for the heads up!
 
No prob, kinda wish i got the ODL mount. but t4r4life's was half the price.

I hate to burst your bubble but i only paid $3 more for the ODL mount than I would have for t4r4life's mount. ODL now sells their mounts for $43 shipped but it turns out that they were having a T4R sale so I only paid $38.50 shipped. I sent t4r4life a PM and his price was $35 shipped. Nothing against t4r4life's mount l but i like the ODL mount better so it was a no brainer.

for me it was 25 because im local and picked it up on a wheeling trip.
 
Last week I received my LX450 coils and I did some research on what shocks are good to run with them. The general consensus is that most guys are running Tokico GE4095's with good reviews and it definitely helps that they are relatively inexpensive, so I think I am going to go with those.

However, in my research, I came across some more info and now I have some questions about installing the LX450's that I am hoping you guys can help with:
1) Extended brake lines - Do I need them or will I be okay without them?
2) Extended bump stops - Do I need them or will I rub like crazy without them?
3) Trac/PanHard Bar/PanHard Drop Bracket - Do I need either one or both?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

If your going to run those shocks your brake lines are fine. Might want to run some sort of bigger bump, ANd idk if you have the rear sway bar on still. If you do thats cool, if not you should think of something to limit the droop. They are long shocks and the last inch or so of droop ends up really binding up the suspension links

Thanks for the help, that is exactly what I needed to know! I do still have the sway bar installed, because it is still my DD so I should be good there.

google that PN and you should be able to get them for around $40. then make an adapter. I am running those same bumps and made a spacer with some tubing. Some 2x2 square will work just drill two holes. mount the bump to the 2x2 then mount that to the frame with the stock bolt

Awesome, thank you! I was looking through your build thread and saw that you are running limit straps, so are you running both bump stops and limit straps? I have always thought that limit straps are better than bump stops because they don't allow the body to contact the frame.
 
02 4runner sr5, sunfire red pearl, just put some new tires and wheels on them.
Decided to go with the 31inch goodyear wranglers, only cause i don't have a lift kit yet. Also bought **** cepek dc-2 wheels. I'm going to be putting a safari rack and grill guard on it soon!

Sweet looking truck man!

In other news, I spent last week in Orlando with my wife and her family. It was a great break and was some much needed R&R.

What was the best part about being gone for a week? Coming back to truck parts! I came back to my factory airbox, 4" deckplate, and 3 switch insert for my Contura II rocker switches.

I was able to get the deckplate mod done and swapped out the factory airbox. Here are some pics of the work-in-progress, i don't have any of everything installed because it got dark on me but I will take some when the light is better.

I used a 4" hole saw to get the hole started but I still had to use my Dremel to shave off some extra to get it to fit snugly.

I used some marine silicone sealant on both the airbox and the deckplate and fastened it with some screws. After everything was fastened down, I ran another bead of silicone around the perimeter of the deckplate to make absolutely sure it is sealed.

In the near future I will add an Airaid intake elbow, high flow permanent air filter (probably K&N or Spectre), and a Safari snorkel.

In addition, before I install the LX450 coils I am going to get all the parts I need together. I still need shocks and I am still thinking about extended brake lines, extended bump stops, and panhard drop brackets. I have gotten some good info so far but if anyone has any additional info, I am open to advice.

At my job, we have a rewards program that allows employees to earn a little extra money. So over performance year I was able to earn an extra $250. Unfortunately, it can't be redeemed for cash; it has to be redeemed for a gift card. So I am going to redeem it for an Amazon gift card and I would like to buy a compressor and hard mount it behind the trim panel in the rear like slomatt from UltimateYota did: UltimateYota.com - On board air with a MV-50..

I did some more research and I am between two compressors, the Viair 400H and the Viair 400C.

I was also able to find that the 400H has a built in power switch and is simply wired with a 12V+ wire (with inline fuse) that goes to the battery and a ground wire. However, the problem is that I still want to mount the compressor out of sight and use a Contura II switch that is mounted by the dash to control the ON/OFF function. I am also planning on running a sealed air hose and will need a pressure switch. The good news is that Viair actually sells a relay with a built in pressure switch which is really cool!

So after looking at some of Viair's wiring diagrams, here is what I came up with. Keep in mind that this is just an electrical wiring diagram:

So my question is, will this setup work?

I found the 400C, that does not have a built in power switch and as far as I can tell, that is the only difference between the two models. Viair's website does say that the 400C is designed to fill a tank for an OBA system, while the 400H is designed to fill tires. But, is there really a difference or do you think I can use the 400C to fill my tires?

Ultimately, I think the 400C would be a better setup because it is a little smaller and it doesn't have the built in power switch which leaves me the option to use my own. I would wire it up the exact same way that is pictured above. The only problem is that I don't know if it will work for just inflating tires.

Just ordered my compressor and the main parts I will need to install it. I will still need some fittings, hose, and other miscellaneous parts from the hardware store, but I should have all the major components. Here is what I went with:
