4Gen Limited vs. 5Gen SR5

I prefer the 4th gen's myself... Although when set up a certain way the 5th gen's look pretty nice!
Speaking of buying a 4th gen, if you'd like to buy my 08 Sport w/ 66K you're more than welcome to. I'll even give ya a better deal than the one you're looking at

I'm the type that loves power, so if that 4th gen has a V6 then go with the 5th. If the 4th gen has a V8 then there's no comparison, 4th gen in a heartbeat!

Probably it's a wrong place to ask (4Gen forum)
But anyways. Researching to buy a used 4R.
Looking at two nice cars:
- 2008 4Gen Limited with 65k miles
- 2011 5Gen SR5 with 13k miles
Almost the same price (around 30k)
I love the look of 4Gen.
What are the pro-cons of each option?

$36,755 is msrp on a 2012 trail NEW,
$32,830 is msrp on a 2012 sr5 NEW
depreciation factor on toyotas are great but not that great coming from 5 years exp in new/used car sales.
I mean out here trails sell for sticker plus addendum but an sr5's got close to 2 grand in margin to work w plus rebates.
From experience there is a heck of a lot more margin in a used vehicle than a new one. Think about where each one comes from, new comes from factory, used comes mostly from trades/auction/company program cars and higher mileage cars come from auction. Btw kbb is bs (retail is higher for used 11 sr5 w 13k in 80201 zip code than brand new msrp for a 2012!)

Let there be no doubt that the rock solid build of the 4th gen is superior than that of the 5th - and most any other truck for that matter except for a Land Cruiser.
Check them out side by side and then open every door, turn every knob, and touch and feel all the small things - you'll definitely agree that the 4th gen is built for the long haul with high quality in mind. The 5th gen has taken a step back IMO but is still a good truck where as the 4th gen (especially the v8) is a truly proven GREAT truck.
When a truck with 70k miles on it is considered a "baby", you know its good.

Again, having owned both and liked both very much, I'd take the 5th to speak. I'd especially take my TE over my Limited off road any day (acknowledging that the present discussion is 4G Limited v 5G SR5). V8 - miss it, but primarily for ripping around town. The kid definitely likes the back seats better in the 5th Gen.
I'd say the 4th definitely feels more nimble. Head room was definitely an issue for me, however. One thing I don't miss on the 4th are those funky climate controls. Fair enough - I'm not the brightest guy on the planet, but I could never figure those things out without staring at em like they we're a pair of 20 year old double Ds.
I offer the above only as considerations for possible consumers. I certainly don't want to end up in a pissing match and I would never claim I am right for my decision and others wrong for disagreeing I did own both though, so it's not just a matter of sour grapes.

I agree with the fact that there's no need for a pissing match! Both are 4Runners and both kick the competition's @ss!

I love my 4th gen and all but when its comes down to dollars & cents and which one is the smarter buy. I think its a no brainer...5th gen forsure!
The 5th gen is a great 4runner, personally I really like the look of them and I challenge you go down to the 5th gen subfroum and NOT find some badass looking rigs you'd want in your driveway. Assuming both are priced the same with 5th gen your getting a basically new vehicle with a longer warranty coverage (because of the less miles and its newer) vs a going on 5 years old truck with 60k on.
If you really want a 4th gen then go find a nice one for 15-17k. Why spend 5th gen money on a 4th gen?
