Bought my '07 SR5 V6 earlier this year, 4lo was inoperative, but I got it working with the heat of summer and it now reliably goes in and out of 4hi/4lo and the diff lock is butter smooth.
Just spent several hundred miles tooling around in 4lo and the one thing I question is this: From a dead stop, in 4LO, when I apply throttle there is some take up (think revs, like a slipping clutch) before the 4runner starts forward. I'm thinking this is normal. I seem to recall the '09 doing this but didn't have it very long (totaled).
In 4HI you just go with the throttle.
What's your 4lo experience??
