That is one nice rig. Love those running boards too. I have a question about your skid plate clearance. I just installed mine too, but the instructions state a 16mm - 20mm clearance between the middle of the forward edge of the plate to the bumper. I adjusted mine to about 20mm yet it looks too close to the bumper. I also tried to level the bottom of the skid parallel to the rest of the runner's frame.

My question is, is your plate/brackets slightly mounted downward? I ask because it appears your mount has a lot more clearance between the edge of the plate and the bumper. I'd hate to have my plate hit or scrape my bumper if it flexed upward hard enough.

Anyone else adjust theirs differently? I agree though, it took a bit to get it even. The left brackets tend to move up as you torque the bolts, and the right goes down. Bit of a pisser when you are trying to level it for the final torque. I guess I'll lower mine a bit to be on the safe side.

Actually it looks quite level to the eye. I did notice that (like in a previous message on this thread) it can be adjusted based on a number of variables (positioning, nut torque, and a little muscle). I'd actually like mine a bit closer, but it is even/level and has plenty of room if indeed it strikes something before it hits my bumper.

Incompatible with JAOS CP

Well after receiving my skid plate earlier this week, I spent several hours trying to install in on my '04 with JAOS center protector.

Bottom line: It does not fit.

The skid plate mounting brackets cannot seat flush against the frame due to the JAOS mounting brackets. The skid plate mounting brackets need to come in about 1/2 inch on each side but the CP mounting brackets are in the way. Even if the mounting brackets didn't interfere, the skid plate would be several inches from the bumper.

Oh well, I like my center protector much more than the skid plate so my choice is made. I am usually more careful but I rolled the dice this time and lost. I can always buy the JAOS skid plate for $600!.

fist i called steve (x2650 ... i think) and all i got is voicemail and left a msg, and he never called back.

second, called operator, they transfer it to sales, then they transfer it to parts and it hung up.

third, called directly to parts, left msg and they never called back.

i don't know if i want to call themagain to order the skid plate

Pickup my skid plate from the dealer today... very nice... can't wait to install. (However, it's rainning in these days )

Also pick up a driverside assist handle... Jesus, it doesn't come with the screw and the cover...... This is how they made $$$~

If partznet won't ship to you then maybe another dealer will. There is a sticky of accesory dealers and I'm pretty sure there are a few Toyota dealers.

Got mine installed yesterday after work...

A little trick to install, but finally got it done~ I took some pictures during installation, but it's too dark after finished. I am not able to take a good pictures with the skid plate on.

Will take some nice pictures when the weather is good. (It's crazy rainning today in Vancouver)

Is that plate any different than the skidplates offered on the previous gen Tacomas and Sport 4Runners? I'm sure the brackets have to be a little different but the plate looks the same.

I think 2005 4Runners came with body colored bumpers. My 2005 black SR5 has all black bumpers.

No, I didn't ask them to do anything. It came with black bumpers from the factory.

I know the SR5s did.. but I thought all Limiteds here in Canada has the silver painted accents. Oh well.... anyone have pics of skid plate + painted accent?

Mine is limited, but the 05' doesn't have the silver paint...
