Is it to much to ask Toyota to put horns into their vehicles that don't get the owners laughed at? That's why I replaced my horns. I told Toyota in the survey "meep meep horn = Toyota fail." Americans demand manly horns!

Rather than start a new thread on this subject.

I just got 2 sets of Hella Supertones delivered. Plan on installing this weekend if possible.
Each set draws 11 amps, so will not be using existing horn relay & fuse except for powering the Hella Relays which will in turn, power the horns thru a circuit from the Painless Fuse Panel.

Will post pics later.

I forgot about the queefy horn. OMG, I could not wait to change that out. It was so bad I would rather hit someone than honk at them. I remember changing my horn on the SR5, but not the trail. Now I have to check if it was done before me.

My 2012 has two horns and they honk just fine. Not really all that wimpy in my opinion.

Huh, my 89 and 99 had good ole Japanese car meep meep horns, my new stock horn sounds more like a 70's pontiac. Granted it is no air horn, it doesn't sound squeaky either. *shrug* Maybe I just don't honk enough?

No relay needed. Largely plug and play with the factory wiring.

Mine are also 118db. Not sure what the difference is between the part number ending in 801 (your link) and 803 (my link), but it's a horn; not a whole lot of reason why you couldn't make it work. it gets power; it honks. :horn:

Only the 2010's had the retro meep meep horns and they put regular sounding horns after that. The 2010's horns sounded like the older 3rd gens if you remember what they sounded like.My x-GF had a 97 at the time and they sounded pretty close.

My 2010 TE manufactured in Feb of 2010 only has 1 horn with the infamous meep meep sound and I was told by my local Toyota dealership that unfortunately it could NOT be swapped out with any stock horn years 2011 on; in terms of just switching out the 2010 horn and plug in another year stock horn.
