4Runner '99 HIDS

I need to get some new headlights and I was wondering if anyone could link me to some really good HIDS. I did some research myself and I can only get a H4 HID light which does not perform dually meaning it doesn't do Hi/Low beam.. so what can I get!?

plz don't go and just stick a hid kit in that's not gonna work your gonna have to do a projector retro fit

yeah just get the H4 bulb and you're set to go...have it done in 12 minutes

please don't go a preach about a projector retrofit when it's obvious he want's a plug and play kit...if he wanted to know Elton H's personal opinion on p'n'p vs. projector then go right ahead, but he asked where to find a good p'n'p kit so unless you're going to post some useful information regarding his question, back off

:o someones a boss up in here hehe. so I should get the H4? will it attract attention from
the cops? I sent an email to the VA state police and they said it was legal to have HIDs as your headlights. thanks and elton, I'm only 18 so I'd like to install simple things myself haha so I don't waste money on easy stuff like that paying people to do it for me.

That looks sweet I might have to pick this up...are you running the 4300k kit from them? And definitely get the H4 kit right?

Edit nevermind, I'm hung over and didnt read your signature on the way down the post...how much light output do you get from 12000k?

Badass.. are they legal? Are they like SID/HID legal? If so, can you if possible link me the ones that you have atm? It's perfect for what I was looking for.
 
they are probably NOT legal, but ANY modification to a headlight, weather it be a p'n'p kit or a projector retrofit are illegal. simply put, if the headlight isn't exactly how toyota designed it, it's illegal

the bi-xenon is what you want, with the high and low beam as HID...mine are the 12,000K and make sure it's an H4 or 9003 bulb

Worrd, I'm going with 12,000K. It'll be legal right because I emailed some guy there and they said their HID kits have certificates.
 
no it won't be legal.

The reason is that DOT doesn't approve HID lights in a housing built for halogen bulbs. The 4Runner housing was designed to be able to control the normal H4 halogen light output and to project it in a "safe" manner as to not blind oncoming traffic.

However, the HID bulbs are longer, brighter, and overall more intense. The projector lenses you see on newer cars can focus the HID bulb to a very precise beam. Our 4Runner housing will spread the light around everywhere and that is why most people say "do not buy unless you're doing a retrofit!"

That being said, I really love the look of the HID's but I don't want to risk the chance of blinding others and/or getting a ticket for them. Be careful, whatever you do.

Man...! I don't know what to do now. :(, gosh F the law. :( I just want to replace my headlights with better ones.. :(

It will work just fine, retro is not required for HID's to work.

I see, what can I do then? I'm really in need of some lights because I'm having a hard time seeing in the dark in areas where street lights are not available. I'd avoid the area but it's necessary for me to go through them to get to where I am trying to go to. :(
 
No. They are like fog lights except they have a narrower beam pattern and are whiter than a fog light.

Just throwing it out there.

My recommendation is seriously just to buy Sylvania SilverStar Ultras. Or IPF bulbs. I know some people are running other halogens and they seem to think they work as well if not better than Sylvania's.

I heard bad things about PIAA's headlight, but I personally haven't had them.

Like I said, I wanted HID's also, but I'm just going to suck it up and stick with legal lights.

Good luck though man! If you get HIDs, do not buy an obvious color like bright blue, stick with 4300k or 6000k
