In my own personal experience w/ aftermarket HID kits, about 1 in every 3 ballasts are faulty when tested and 1 in every 4 bulbs are faulty when tested. That's why it's very good idea to do a "mock install" with any HID kit, before you do a complete install. This will allow you to test all of your HID components w/ ease before spending a lot of time on the final install. You'll learn as you go though. :)

I'd suggest going back to your stock bulbs until you can get a new ballast. No telling how long that will take...

Word, what sites did they come from when you needed new replacements?
 
Well instead of waiting for my Monday's appointment with my mechanic, I replaced the HID's with the stock's and I went to several shops in my city (Virginia Beach) and none of them can install HID's nor check to see if i have any issues. SAD :(


I went to Pep boys, Auto zone, Advance Auto, some local auto shop but none of them can do it. :[

I've always purchased hid aftermarket kits from different sellers on ebay. (I like to try different sellers to see which kit I like the best.) Each time a ballast or bulb is faulty right out of the box, I've always just contacted the sellers I bought the kits from and had them send me a replacement part. Of course, they require me to send them the faulty part first, then they send the replacement part out.

However, different sellers on ebay sell different quality kits. Although most kits may look the same when advertised, the quality of each part can vary. So far, I've had good luck with this ebay seller: hqz4321. Granted, I have had one or 2 parts fail right out of the box from him, but he's always been good to replace them. Also, the ballasts I've purchased from him were always SEALED from the inside (plastic dip on all the electrical).

However, many aftermarket ballasts are not sealed. Thus, if they get water in them and they are not sealed, you're SOL. You can unscrew the ballast cover to find out if they are sealed within or not. Even though they come sealed, I've always sealed them from the outside for double protection and peace of mind. Otherwise, if you'd rather not seal them, just mount them in such a way that water will have a hard time getting in them.

BTW, the above mentioned seller also sells everything from full kits, to just replacement ballasts and/or bulbs individually. Do a search by seller on ebay and seach by his name. You'll see everthing he carries.

Oh and as a disclaimer - I've always had good luck with him, but Buy at Your Own Risk.

Yeah, good luck finding anyone around town to install an aftermarket HID kit for you. Most businesses prefer to steer clear of this type of work due to the liability issues they create. You're really better off doing it yourself and/or finding a friend to do it for you.

Oh and if you're inexperienced w/ HIDs, browse around (or join) the forums on HIDPlanet.com. Tons of HID info out there:

Damnnnn! What a sick setup for that guy, lucky guy! Unfortunately, I do not have any tools as of now. I'm not sure if you saw my other thread but I've made a new thread regarding the "must have" tool kits for me to get even though I'm only a beginner to this stuff. So yeah, I'll definitely get those backup lights.. badass, that is all I can say. Jeez. :O It's just unfortunate that one of the parts that I've received from vvme.com won't work/doesn't want to work. I'm waiting for a email from them and we'll see what happens.

Edit: I just realized that the thread was made by you. My bad, I'm really tired. Got home late last night because I couldn't find a ride after work and I had to get up at 6 for school then I had to walk back to my workplace (aprpox. 45 minutes awayish) after school in 90 degree weather
 
Ha this is funny. When I'm asking questions, everyone is all over it but when I need some help, only the few ones is trying to help me hahah.
 
I agree with your buddy assumption. If every thing is wired properly and the bulbs don't even flicker when the headlights are turned ON, then more than likely, it's always a faulty ballast(s).

Good luck on getting a replacement one.

Alrighty... I will be ordering them then. I won't be sending the faulty ones back because of the high prices in shipping ($200 USD for shipping alone... wtf?) Whatever. :/
 
WAIT!!! don't ship them back. I didn't read a lot of the posts in this thread so this may have been suggested or tried already so i apologize for that.

BUUTTT,

This has happened to me numerous times and happened to people i know. Take the wiring harness that is leading into the ballast from the HID bulbs(should be a - and a + labeled) and flip it so it is incorrect. The negative should be going to the positive and the positive should be going to the negative.

I was about to send mine back when i thought what the heck, might as well try it. I did, and it worked.
 
ok great, i just read all 11 pages and it seems that no one has suggested that nor have you tried that yet. Your ballasts are not bad. Possibly but very slim chance.

Give me a ring and i can walk out and look at mine and walk you through the process and we should have you up and running in no time.

I'm actually hearing impaired but I have my neighbor coming over, if you want to talk to him and walk him through it, that'd be awesome too.
 
glad I could help!! That's what we are here for.

Not completely sure why this happens like this but i do know it is specific to H4 HID kits. I have seen it happen on Mazda's as well with H4's.
