I read that this does not work for any camera that utilizes parking mode. Is that accurate?

Unless the camera has a built in battery for reserve power, yes that is accurate. The adapater gets power from the auto-dimming mirror supply, and is only fed when the vehicle is on. So when the vehicle is off there is no power going to the mirror or camera.

Correct, it runs off of ACC so only has power when the truck is on
