4Runner Dome Light Repair

I recently bought a 96 4Runner SR5 4x4 and noticed after I bought it that I had no dome light when I opened the doors, no chime for headlights on or key left in ignition... my initial thought was that it was the door plungers. I actually had a two fold problem that took me the better part of two weeks to figure out. I noticed I had the door open indicator working... sort of dimly when I opened the door but still everything else didn't work. So I replaced the door plunger switch (after tearing apart the dash to see if I had a wiring problem at the relay integration) and voila, I had the warning chime now... (which is kind of annoying, but I don't want to kill my battery so I deal with it) Still no dome light though. Ended up having to take the dome light down and bend the contacts so the switch worked. I tried to repair the remaining plungers and saved 3 of 4 of them by soaking them in water and then cleaning them out the best I could. Turns out they weren't grounding because they were filled with Kansas dust... lame.

I also searched threads for hours looking for this issue and couldn't find it, so I'm not sure if anyone else will have this issue but hopefully this helps.
