4Runner front end rebuild kit

I had been looking for a front end rebuild kit for my 97 4Runner. I checked some post and saw a lot of people looking for one two with no luck. Just found this on ebay for $140.00 What do you guys think?

The price looks awesome, BUT buyer beware of what you are getting. I just ordered a pair of LBJ's and outer tie-rod ends from Toyota and the OEM LBJ's are $89 each and the OTR's are $48 each, so for OEM that is $275 for just those 4 components.

With all the reading about LBJ failures and such, I would be leery of complete kit that cost less than just the two LBJ's. I may be a bit of a parts snob and I will admit that I am partial to OEM on most of the things I replace, but at that price, all I will say it the quality of the components is going to have to be relatively low. I mean even the cheapest LBJ I found at NAPA was $61, so for 2 would be $120.

If you want to give it a try, that is your option, but I would not use it on my rig. Just my $0.02

Also, Toyota stopped selling the Upper ball joints individually, they only sell the complete knuckle now. It had to do with the liability of trying to press the joints in and out correctly. If they are installed incorrectly in can cause improper stresses on the joint and knuckle, potential for bad JU JU.

I mean yes consider that its only 139.14 but the 12 month warranty is good and they have very few bad reviews. just go with your gut

I appreciate your opinion. That's why I posted it. I just wouldn't compare the quality of part based on how close it is to OEM pricing. I mean for a set of plastic clips for my factory fender flares the dealer ship wanted about $200.00 bucks. I actually found the same clips at the hardware store for about $10 bucks...LOL! I'm definitely considering it, especially since my truck is a 2wd and doesn't see the rough terrain.​

Spend the money on OEM. I have put cheaper aftermarket stuff on my truck and it worn out very quick. The money you save up front will go out the door when you find yourself having to replace it again in 30k miles. OEM stuff is the way to go especially when you are talking about something your life and the life of others can depend on.

So you are basically buying a $14 Lower Ball Joint.

Yeah ... That is going to work out greeeeaaaaat.

Probably just the sway bar links....so no not any of it really :lmao:

I don't think all parts have to be oem. I'd try it out if your a DIY. Just check for play often.

I've never replaced any of the front components except the inner tie rod, and I went with the cheap $30 vs $64 option at NAPA and that part has worn out since being installed over the summer. So you definitely get what you pay for...
