v6 240k miles but just got everything done including head gaskets.
well just drove around a little and this time I did get a little stutter like it was about to stall out...then never did and went back to the normal 500 rpms. if im in neutral its fine and rpm stays at 800 but in drive its 500
oh wow forgot to mention that the timing chain broke and the guy who did my head gasket redid the timing chain and everything for free including the oil pump. he said there was a lot of debris and crap everywhere so he cleaned out the oil pan and removed most of the debris then did a leak down test and put everything back together. everything was fine he said and everything was fine til yesterday.
but again its not like the car is stalling out just bogging seems like a little as i come to a stop only once...then everything goes back to normal...its really weird

My '07 V6 with 95K miles has been doing this since I purchased it two years ago with 65K miles. I have replaced the spark plugs, battery, cleaned the throttle body, cleaned the MAF sensor, and installed new air filters. None of this resolved the problem. It's gotten to the point now that I don't really notice it but in the summer it seems to be worse because of the strain of the A/C running. I've never felt that it would stall but it does seem like it would run a lot smoother if it were to idle maybe 50 RPM higher than it does.

I consider this normal for years on my '04 with 295,000 Km and regular maintenance. Dips low when stopping, then idle recovers to ~500+. Stays smooth and never stalls.

when warm both of my 4th gen's idle on the gauge what looks to be just over 500 rpm... using my bluetooth obd2 setup I can see that the actual number is closer to 600, usually right at 573rpm (When the gauge actually makes it appear to be 500 rpm)... go digital from the obd2 if the number is your concern. I notice both mine drop about 50 rpm when coming to a sudden stop, recovers back to 570'ish... I've only ever seen the digital number go below 500 once at idle though. bottom line is, I don't think there's anything wrong if you have no codes and no stalling issues, drive it.

well yeah the timing chain broke...shit got everywhere...not really his fault i believe because i dont see how you can install the chain wrong where it would just strip.
what happened was basically something got caught and stopped the timing chain while the chain wanted to keep going so all the chains just busted and stripped. but he said he got all of the debris that he saw out and cleaned it up nice but just in case something extra is around the oil filter should get it.
told me to basically bring in to him to get another oil change around 1000 miles...its an old car and things can go wrong trying to fix these up so its really hard to say whos at fault here
also last night i poored in 2 bottles of sea foam and drove around for like 30 miles both hard and soft...this morning drove it around another 10 miles and didnt stutter and idled like 50 rpms higher making the overall feel much better.
we will see what happens when all of the sea foam goes away...might try like another fuel cleaner like redline or royal purple.
