It's because your 4Runner is/was mad at you for being to rough. Have you tried talking to it gently to get it to respond?

Jokes aside,
We are going to need a little bit more details here, what sounds did it make when it died/wouldn't start?
Did you check to make sure everything was plugged in right and tight? For example terminals and such.
When it died, was it sudden off, or did it gurgle down?
Lets start here.

depends how hard u were bumping around,
vehicles have a safety switch located somewhere to kill power to the fuel pump so its not spewing fuel all over the place in the event of an accident.

was it hard enough to possibly trigger the sensor?

My 4runner shut off once just driving down the street. Happened just that one time and started back up just fine, had plenty of fuel.

We don't have inertia switches in 4runners.

everything was tigthen up. no loose wires. it didnt make any noise when it shut off. the only reason i was able to tell was because i lost power steering and all my lights came on as if i was about to start it.
when i was turning it back on it sounded like it wasnt getting enough power to turn over but my battery is fine and my alternater is charging my battery fine. i checked it a couple weeks prior. this incident doesnt always occur. it is weird cause no check engine lights come on my dash or anything.

Only time mine had ever done that was when i too was offroad and the 4runner just died. Everything looked fine but when i peeked around a little i found out my intake tube had slipped off my throttle body a tad.
