Well, I have been without my T4R since last Friday. Problem started the day before. Here it goes:
Coming home from work my truck studdard once. I didn't think much of it because I was wearing new boots and thought my foot slipped. But, the next morning I came out to go to work and my remote thing didn't work. I thought maybe the battery went dead on it. So, I unlock it with the key and tried to unlock the other doors, but no dice. So, then I thought my battery was dead. Odd thing is, my truck started right up. First thing, after I started my truck, that I noticed was the oil press light was slow to go out. Then I saw my check eng light was on, VSC Trac, VSC Off and Battery lights were on. Then I tried to give it some gas and the eng didn't accelerate until the gas was pushed passed halfway. Then at that it was slow to rev up. I turned off my truck, called Toyota and they said not to drive it, call a tow truck and get it up there.
Later that day they called and said that the alternator was bad. Wasn't charging up the battery enough and that was causing the problems. They said that some of the signals for different thing go through something like a battery bus. (That is what we call it on aircraft.) There were numerous faults, including TPS, O2 sensor 1, O2 sensor 2 and some other stuff. I really didn'tpay much attention after that. I was happy they found the problem. They said they ordered a new alt. and that it would be in on Tuesday.
Fast forward to today. I called the dealership and they said the part came in, but there are still some errors/faults. The tech didn't know what was causing it. They called the regional tech rep. He couldn't find the problem. The dealership called me back later in the day and he told me that they are waiting for Tech headquarters people in Cal to call back with assistance. They are thinking that my computer might have gotten fried. Hopefully I will know something tomarrow.
One thing I like about having a warranty is I get a free rental from Toyota, plus I don't have to pay for the repairs. I will say that I don't like the new Rav4. It is gutless and rattles like crazy and it only has 4,700 miles on it. I will let y'all know what happens.
Anyone else have any ideas as to the problem?
