4Runner Memory Clarification

I hate to say this (really I do) but, given your champagne tastes on a beer budget so to speak, you would be better off going with a domestic like Jeep, GM, Ford, etc. Here's why:

To get the features you want in a rugged 4WD full frame reliable platform like Toyota, Lexus, etc it will blow past your budget in a heartbeat. To get these features in a Ford, Dodge or GM it is attainable with your budget but you are giving up the reliability and durability. You have to choose. Memory suite, heated and cooled seats and all the other features OR reliability and durability with very few cool features and the reliability and durability.

Not knocking you for wanting your cake and eating it too but reality sets in all too soon. If you only have $28K for a new used vehicle then I would pick durability over everything else so you won't get nickel'd and dime'd to death.

I appreciate your feedback and honesty. We can afford the operating costs and associated repairs that come with an older vehicle.

If we decide to with a smaller Ford Escape, for example, we certainly wouldn't buy a new one for $26k, we'd go out and buy a used one with 70k miles for $15k instead.

$26k isn't the most we can spend, just the most we'd want to spend.

All,

This is my first post here on the forum. Wife and I are going to be starting a family within the next 6 months and I'm cross-shopping the 4Runner and the GX.

I just wanted to clarify the memory features in the 4Runner. Do only the seats have memory? I know the GX has seat/mirror/steering wheel memory.

The rib and I have very different seating positions/mirror settings when driving and seeing as this will be a family car, it'll be a pain to switch every day so a full suite of memory functions is really important.

Does this leave me no choice between the two trucks?
I actually almost switched to a GX recently just to get all those nice creature comforts. We've had several vehicles in the past with memory seating and it's (almost) a must for us as well! Unfortunately, the GX majorly underwhelmed me, especially for the price. I am happily sticking with the 5th Gen 4Runner, and just have to deal with that one downside.

In other news we are trading in our Forester for an Outback Wilderness- which also doesn't have memory seats! I tried talking my wife into the Limited XT or Touring XT models which have the memory seats and turbo, but no, she values the look of the Wilderness more than memory seats [emoji19]

Good luck to you. And if it hasn't been mentioned, the Limited 4Runner has memory seats. May be a good choice for your needs. They can be modded to look pretty sweet these days!
