4runner n00b problems

Hey, new 4runner owner, 99 black manual SR5. I love the truck but I'm having some issues. My rear driver side window won't work and when the window buttons pressed, which to me indicated that it was electrical. I took the door panel off and looked for anything out of the ordinary. Has anyone had a similar issue? I'm just looking for a diy solution.

The other problem is my driver side door can only be opened with the key. The keyless entry and button appear to not have an effect. It started getting dark before I could get in and look so if anyonoe could give me some theories on it that would be great.

Also looking at doing some mods. Moving to AK soon so anything to make it run better in snow besides the obvious (snow tires, chains)

No idea about the electrical, but for the snow I say Lift, Bigger Tires, and a Locker maybe a bullbar or something for a lil extra protection just in case

time to download the service manual and get out your multimeter to do some diagnosing.

I had a seized power lock motor on one door. It might just be one of the snap connectors?

I also had a corroded switch for the rear window. A little cleaning and it works like a charm.

I'm going with the corroded switch idea. Just clean the contacts with a small wire brush of whatever you can scrub it with.

From the stories about the moose and other large animals roaming the streets of AK I would say an armored bumper would be a must have. If your runner has the factory elocker...then you have my dream runner there my friend!

Where in AK are you moving? The winters vary widely based on where you'll be. It probably won't be as bad as you think but it's all a matter of perspective. I can, however, tell you it will absolutely be colder and snowier than Virginia.

You don't need much, but I would recommend at least a good set of winter tires. If you're in Anchorage you'll probably want studded tires as they create their own downward spiral of grooves in the road that become channels of ice thus furthering the need of studs. Also, you may want a block heater and/or remote starter. While neither are a necessity the block heater makes life easier on your truck and the remote starter makes cold February mornings a hell of a lot easier on you.

x2 since all of your problems are on the left side i'm thinking it may be a pig tail of some kind or a plug has become rotten/disconnected.
