4Runner Prices Dive

If you ever wanted to buy a 4 Runner, NOW would be the time.

Here in Sacramento prices for new and newer models are 15-30% below expected selling price. A '07 SR5 2WD for $21K with 28K miles. Deep discounts up to $8 K on newer to new 4Runners. I know about the gas debate but if your relations want a beautiful vehicle....:biggrin2:

:iagree:It seems the dealers in the SE region are cutting the prices deeply. The 2wd '07 you mentioned doesn't sound like that good of a deal to me. 28k miles is high to me. If that vehicles real selling price was $18.7-$19.2 then it'd be a good deal here.

My brand new '07 was $28.5 with zero miles and 4wd.

Maybe the west coast market is different...

That is interesting about the South. Normally an 07 would be about $24 to 25K even with those miles and I agree that mileage stuck out to me as well. I have heard dealers here are selling 4Runners with 2K back to buyer so your price you got is not far off from this area. I think they will be happy to get them off the lot. If it were me, I would offer them $28 OTD and see what happens. Either way, it is a great time to buy a superior vehicle IMO.

My $28.5 was OTD in 9/2007, a fair deal I thought... Edit: Let me clarify, I had a big trade so my sales tax burden was on on about $3k

I agree, the T4R is a tremendous bargain right now and a terrific vehicle:D

We've been looking at AutoSearch and dealership websites for a while, found 08 SE 4X4 V6s for 26399.Dealership is 90 miles away but their website shows they have several Sports in all the colors. On road price is about 28300.Gas is 4.00 a gal. and the 09s are right around the corner. Seeing all the neat features on the new Highlander, it may pay to wait for any info. on the 09 4Runners.

Everything's diving in this economy.

The deals that some are offering are pretty good , my truck is leased until feb.09 , but I'm starting to get offers to turn in early , I'm way under milage even though I have 45k on my 06. It would be tempting to get an 08 if they come out with a 0% thing for 72 months like GM did here. My friend just bought a 08 Chevy Equinox AWD , really cheap and 0% for 72 mo. They are hungry and trying to move as much as they can .

went to the store food shopping. you are not kidding.......OJ $4.50 and no discounts for the typical carton......everything is up.

My friend's 2007 LX470 is now worth around $37-39,000! :( Basically, in less than one year of ownership, his lux SUV just had loss almost half it's value! My '04 G500 is now worth around $27-29,000! :(

It's a very good time to buy SUVs, esp. used ones.

You may get a great deal when buying a 4Runner, but try selling it a few months or years later. My 2005 4Runner is barely worth around $20k. I agree that the 4Runner is a great buy, but only if you plan on keeping it until something gives with gas prices.

Yep, thats for sure Mark86, guess I'm holding off for more reasons than just what 09 will bring. We have Wife's Pilot for bad weather conditions and utility, got her out of her Civic in 04, now she says "I will give up my Pilot when you pry it from my cold dead fingers!" Gonna be interesting in September towing the boat to Canada most of the way in THIRD GEAR, thanks Honda.May have to look at used 4Runners, if I can hold back the vomit after I see how the average person takes care of 'em.Tried a couple used ones a while back, we'll see.

Last week i got a letter from a toyota dealership saying that my car was in high demand and they would buy it for 110% of the dealer blue book price. I thought it was really wierd that there was high demand in my area for an suv right now. I didnt even look into it though, i love my car.

Dealer bullshit...they say that to get you into the showroom floor...they will screw you in the end...either by lying about the blue book value or raising the price of the vehicle you want to trade in for. I hate it when dealer send these little notices out....

He's exactly right . I bet if you did all the research on your trade and the one you would buy they would not go for those numbers .

In cases like that you need to be armed with details and numbers .

Only time I'm a ''walk in'' with a dealership is when I test drive, after that it's dealing with the internet salesrep all the way. Next time my shadow darkens the dealership doorway I'm there to drive the vehicle I bought , hand 'em the credit union draft for the ageed to amount, sign off and drive to the tint shop! The price I quoted of 26400 is now 25700, same dealership just a month later in 08.We're in the drivers seat now with these vehicles.I remember back when they would put a second sticker on the glass next to the main one, it said ''adjusted market value''......... times changed, especially with 23MPG SUVs! The closer the 09s get to the showrooms, the lower we'll see prices go. Need to stay informed though, just in case they screw-up the 09s, 08 may be the last of the breed.

Yep, I always hated those things! When possible, I refused to do business with a stealer who added them. They even had a little figure of a 'gas pump' at the top of it, so that it would look "factory authentic" to customers interested in buying the vehicle.
:bash:

It is there that you would find the $200 pinstripe, $150 floor mats and $500 'paint protection package' added to the price of the vehicle that only cost the dealership about fifty bucks total.

When I got my '08 Mustang GT, they had a "Bullitt" model in the showroom with a "Market Adjustment" of $3500 -- but that was the only vehicle I saw with this sticker added. (I guess we could let them slide on that model.) I wonder what kind of "Market Adjustment" they'll put on the new 2009 Shelby GT500 KR -- probably about fifteen grand or so. Yikes!

The worst thing I saw was a local Nissan stealer where they had a "Market Adjustment" of $1500 on a frickin' Sentra. Now that was just wrong!
:cursin:

On the flip-side of the coin, a local Chevy/GMC dealership is practically giving away Tahoes, Yukons and Suburbans. A sign outside their lot claims zero percent for 72 months and up to $10,000 off MSRP. Good time to be in the market for one of those tubs - provided you really need one and you can afford to pay well over $100 every time you go to the gas station. Yikes!

As others have said, those letters are just computer-generated bullsh*t. I turned in my leased 4Runner back in January, and still get them about twice a month. They make you think you are the only one who is on the list and that they have "somebody waiting" who wants your used vehicle and who is willing to pay top dollar for it.

Well, if that were the case, give me their number and I'll sell my used car to them directly and avoid the middleman (dealer).
:D

In all honesty, you'll have better luck with the letter you get from Ed McMahon and the magazine giveaway. Those mailings from the dealership should be used to line the floor of your bird cage.
:p

Falls right now toyota is offering 0% 48 mo ,or 0.9% for 60mo

thinking of doing it if the numbers add up if not keep the one i have
