I'm still waiting for the big national news story about a very severe penalty handed down by a jury against an at fault driver whose subpoenaed cell phone records were instrumental in the outcome.

Sorry to hear that too!!! Last summer I got rear ended. Come to think of it it too was a Woman (nothing against them) as well. She took out me towing hitch, the resonator to the muffle and the bumper. Spent 2 days in the Hospital. My 2003 spent 1 week in the Hospital as well.

I think it's red cars. People can't seem them. My other car is a red TL and it's like the car is invisible.

That's why they paint fire engines yellow, the eye is least sensitive to the red and blue ends of the visible light spectrum.

We have red fire trucks in Toronto and used to have yellow in North Toronto Area, but now they exchanging them with red ones.

my 4runner was rear ended a while ago at about 15-20mph straight on and there was absolutely 0 damage too mine with a hell of a lot to the small car that hit me. Its amazing how tough our trucks are from the back.

Nevertheless, the eye is most sensitive to yellow and green and many fire districts in the country have changed the color of their trucks to yellow. I guess tradition is hard to overcome. The fire hydrants in my area have also all been repainted to yellow.

Actually --- another reason that fire trucks (and any other emergency vehicles) are being changed from red to yellow is that red is harder to see at night. Yellow offers increased visibility in both day and night.

That's because people in North Toronto have taste Yes, yellow and that neon lime green is more visible, but GOOD GOD! Those trucks look awful!

Many departments that went to yellow or lime green are returning to Red, more for a matter of pride and looks than anything. I agree that those other colors are safer, but if you make the siren loud enough and put enough lights on it, you should be able to see fire apparatus of any color. (sorry to hijack the thread)

I am really sorry to see what happened to you and your 4Runner. I feel terrible for you. These NJ drivers really need to take their driving tests over because driving here is dangerous. I hope your truck is repaired soon and is as good as new. Most importantly, I hope your injuries heal up and are not serious.

From my limited knowledge about NJ, it's unlawful to drive with one hand talking to the cell phone in the other hand.

I got rear ended exiting I-93 in metro Boston (Woburn) about 4 years ago similarly by a woman driver from Maine. She refused to show her docs (lic and insur) and called me a "psychopath". It's even harder to believe when she presented her case to the officer called to the scene, the cop said to me "it takes a little bit of both" - it being the impasse. Good lord - I am the kinda guy who'd always say "thank you" and "sorry" and always hold the door for the next guy coming in at Starbucks. I felt I was a pussy like the "Charlie" guy in comedy "me myself and irene" ;-)

That is true, but I think you have to commit another traffic offense in order for the cops to be able to give you a ticket for talking on the cell phone while driving. I don't know if that goes for the whole state or just a few towns.

I What is that funny black box above the exhaust tip? Is that just a plastic cushion?

This is a good one, That box is a shield for a rubber diaphragm that allows the doors to close so easily and gives that nice thump.

Do you have anymore pics of the front? From the pics it doesn't really show much, but you said the grill will need to be replaced.

The front bumper cover was damaged by the guard but saved the headlight and who knows what else. I can tell you it will stand up light bumps like it was designed too.
