I recommend you guys put chains on your tires. You will be surprised on how well a 4x4 diff lock vehicle does in the snow with chains. In the video that 4runner with chains wouldnt of needed help getting pulled out.

Here is what I am talking about. 2 feetish of snow. No way one without chains can make it through going up hill. I made it through fine with diff lock and 4x4 but once snow started getting deeper and deeper with an incline it was over with just tires.

So I now want to put chains on all 4 wheels.

i would recommend steady pressure on the tow strap rather than jerking it then nothing. the jerk helps but you don't back it up with anything. Good way to break a strap too.

agreed, unless you get some elastic straps that are pull just for what yall were doing, they are perfect for so, they are like giant rubber bands and will spring the truck out. They are pretty nice to have if you are getting stuck in snow a lot

yeah, its the difference between a recovery strap and a "snatch" strap and that was a snatch strap attached to a recovery so it was just fine.

I was referring to the ones that stretch out like ten feet before they engage...

yeah there is no way steady pressure would have worked in this situation. The car towing cant get enough traction to pull that much weight. The tires would just spin.

And yeah chains are cool. But I'm lazy and they are really heavy and too much work. I dont have a problem with just tires. And I'm not really convinced that chains would have made a difference. I've been in that situation before and you wait 20 minutes for someone to put chains on, and they cant make it any further.

But hey, if someone else wants to take the time to put them on and take them off to break trail, I'd be happy to follow. :bigok:

ditto... plus, half the fun is getting stuck and yanked out! all of us got stuck at least once!

it was somewhat compacted on the trail, until towards the end of the video where we couldn't make it any further. But I'd say off to the side of the trail it was a good 2.5-3' of snow. It came up to my mid thigh and I'm 6'1"
