4runner test in the Rubi!!!!!

It made it alright, with no mechanical issues, but man, it suffered more than a little fender damage. Here it is, in person, that I took at the Texas State Fair.

There wasn't an inch anywhere that wasn't damaged below the window line, and ALL the lights were damaged and had been removed, with some temporary replacements duct taped in place.

Even so, it did make it all the way. This protoype had a sticker on the dash that said "Record miles when going offroad." This was Sept 24, 2009, the day Toyota came out with the new model.

just got this months issue of 4 Wheeler and check out this the 4runner test in the Rubi... u guys gotta go buy it...i dont want to spoil it all but it made it through with only minor fender damage...no drivetrain problems!!! only sliders and MT's!! pretty good to me.

They are not rated for snow,very very expensive and wear fast are the reasons I went with BFG AT KO's

I believe that is actually the front bumper cover that they use on the 4 cylinder that is painted silver.There are 3 different front bumper covers,the SR5/Limited,the 4 cyl. and the Trail Edition.
They also had two diffrent 4runners on the Rubicon and the other one had the black TE bumper and thats the one they fixed up and ran the Baja 1000 .

Now,for the million dollar question....who makes those rock sliders?Those are the ones I want instead of the factory running boards!!:hungry: Any 4th Gen owners recognize the manufacturer of the sliders maybe?

Actually, those lights weret "Temporary Replacements," they were ductaped on the rig when it was under camo before it was even tested offroad.

Maybe so, but I don't think so having seen them firsthand. If you look at the official pictures, taken on the Rubicon, you can see the original lights, undamaged, in the early shots. Afterward, there was significant damage around all the lights. They got smashed. They did drive it after the replacements on the street, which is the photo you see later, with the camoflage, but I'm pretty sure that the lights were the originals without some of the trim they had secured with tape to make it street legal after the orginal lights were damaged on the trail. Take note of the front-they are literally just hanging on with tape.

okay pretty sure that the one i was talking about in the thread was the less beaten up TE with the black front. thats also the one that was in the article of 4Wheeler mag. those sliders might be demello's but not sure

Not true.

Only the Limited has full time 4wd in Canada.
