4runner TRD Pro

I like the white lettering. Hadn't seen or thought of that. Looks good. I like the gunmetal look too though on the white trdp.

I'm waiting on an Inferno from my local dealer. I haven't seen a VIN but they have promised several times (i'm obsessive...lol) that it's a 100% go. Still not convinced without a VIN. :/

I'm with Deeks, I think I prefer the super white but my wife and son like the Inferno best. I'm good really though with all three colors.

I might put flat black vinyl or dip the hood matte black if I end up with the inferno. The warthog build (although i think it's a barcelona red sr5) thread is the inspiration for me. I'm not sure how it will look on the orange though...I'm also not sure of any permanent effects of vinyl on the paint over time. I'll have to look into that.

I happy to be without the sunroof, but I wish we had the roof rack from the 11-13' Trails.

I'm slapping a full length rack on mine so a moonroof would've just been a window to a rack.....and less headroom...and more things to break/leak in the long run.

my 99 discovery has 2 moonroof and i also have a full length rack on that.
after years of twisting and cracking on that frame the things started to leak even though i only opened them maybe twice and that when it hadn't even been off roading on it yet, so that always stuck in my mind about my next/additional truck. the 4runner is probably stiffer and obviously better built, but i was very happy when i found out i could get a 4runner without a moon roof because i had been trying like hell to find out if i could order a trail without it with no answers from the dealer.

So -- I don't want to read through the entire thread to find this out -- has anyone traded in their LE model for at TRD Pro and if so how you liking it? I'm seriously thinking of doing this and would like to hear from the 4Runner nerds on this board. I've read and watched all the reviews and it seems to handle road driving well -- that would be only concern.

Sorry I'm not going to be any help probos, but I am about to do exactly that. I'm trading a '13 Limited for the TRDP. My LE though is not even 4wd so there's that. If I had the 4wd LE I still think I'd make the trade though. I plan to go offroad. No crazy trails but I would like to crawl small stuff and get to places I wouldn't normally be able to. I also want to be able to put a jet ski in the water without a ramp. I think I may need a new front bump and winch before I get too crazy with that though. Hopefully somebody that has already made the move can chime in & give you some real info. ;)

I don't meet your criteria, didn't trade from an LE, but I have had other BOF trucks before (2 Xterras and a lifted YJ Wrangler) as well as an Infiniti M37s and an STi. All over the spectrum as far as ride quality goes. I do a lot of daily city driving in my pro, and have taken it on two 10 hour highway trips... it's great. I drove my pretty decently modified STi from LA to DC so maybe my standard of ride quality is a little low, but if that's the only thing stopping you from getting a pro don't let it. Just as capable on as it is off road in my opinion, which is what the TRD engineers were going for when they tuned the suspension.

Thanks for the reply -- I figured as much as far as the ride goes. I do love my LE but man, the Pro really has me thinking. I know I could get good value for a trade but looks like the Pro's are going for right at msrp. We'll see,....thanks again.

I gave my wife my 2011 Limited (we sold her Volvo XC90) and I got the TRDP. Love the truck, but so far there are two things that drive me insane . . .

1.) Lack of push button start and touch unlock
2.) Lack of 120V outlets in the passenger section

Minor items I know, but I can't tell you the number of times I try to get into the TRDP with the keys in my pocket or try to stab the dashboard to start it. I was hoping to add the feature, but I believe the steering column is unlocked via the key so not really feasible. Other than those two items though, I love it.

I just noticed you are in Reston... Jack Taylor Toyota in Alexandria had a white pro not too long ago. I'm not sure if it's still there but might be worth looking into. I dealt with them a little bit in my search and they were very helpful, but they didn't have one at the time so I went up to Baltimore for mine.

I had slightly better experience with truecar.com, but the fine print says it either 'does not' or 'may not' apply to limited distribution vehicles (like TRD Pro). but hey, if anyone may honor the truecar.com price, it can't hurt to try...

Granted, it was in December '14, but my dealer honored the truecar.com pricing for mine, fine print notwithstanding. I got it just under MSRP in the Chicago area -- can't recall, but let's say at least $500-900 off.

I traded my LE for a Pro and never looked back. Ride is a bit different but by no means uncomfortable. Two biggest things I miss are push button start and sunglasses holder. Otherwise VERY happy with my decision.

How could I get anything else?

Proud owner of the stealthy all black TRD Pro. Thought i'd share how...

I dropped into our massive Toyota dealership drawn to the 4Runner, thanks to my roommate in college owning a 4Gen that was a BEAST and my first intro to the 4Runner. After a little looking around and online research I was blown away by the TRD Pro. After placing a deposit I had to hang for a month to wait for delivery from Japan only to get a "good-news, bad-news" call about transport putting a small hole in the front bumper. That's where the bad turns good. Sure, then I had to wait for the new front bumper to arrive to replace the "small hole", but it gave them time to make up for it with a tint on the front windows to match the back and the clear coat outside-inside-underside. The events really worked in my favor is the way I see it. At the end of the day, they have to do to something to make me feel good about the sale. The 100,000mi warranty is a nice pillow to sleep on and knowing I got all that for under $44k. I felt good about the deal and better about the ride, even if according to the nay-sayers it's simply a badged-up vehicle.

While I was going through the decision, I was admittedly torn up from reading some critics. I had a great deal through my Toyota-working sister and could have got a great Trail Premium, saved cash and done the same or better than the stock TRDP and had a sunroof (seriously, not an option?!?! Ford Raptor, Range Rover, all the bully's on the block!). I live in a city and don't have the ability to work on the heavy stuff (suspension, lifts, shocks, etc.) and the i happened to think the "badging" was damn cool! The grille, wheels, and blacked-out badging made it look like it feasted on children's fear and small woodland creatures for fuel while snidely snickering at the mountains it traversed. And after hearing the limited release of 3400 internationally with warranty on all those parts, I couldn't say no!

Haven't let it play in the dirt on the outside yet, I do have an expensive hole in the wallet I need to fill. But thanks to the custom fit Raingler Pet Barrier, my german shepherd now stays in the trunk and keeps her mess with her, keeping it fresh until it's masked in a fresh coat of mud. That was my "first upgrade" and well needed, but definitely dreaming about the real ones for the future!

So I stop at the Toyota truck area at the NY autoshow and there is an inferno T4R with a sunroof and signal lights on the mirrors. A booth babe walks over and asked do you have any questions, hehehe:girl:

Me: So is this a production model
Girl: Yes (With a perma-grin smile)
Me: Can you get a sunroof with one
Girl: Of course you can!
Me: No you cant
Girl: (Perma-grin gone, starts fiddling with her ipad to show me the options and she cant find it) Let me get someone
Dude with a suit #1: Can I help you
Me: You pleasant staff was telling me you can get a TRDP with a sunroof, I have one and I can tell you it was never an option
Dude with suit #1: I believe different regions may have slight differences in options and there may be some out there
Me: No, I'm pretty sure you are mistaken and I believe this is a pre-production model you have here
Dude with suit #1: Walks over to dude with suit #2 and talks for 5 minutes
Dude with a suit #2: You are correct sir, sorry about the confusion

They should really educate the staff at these shows including the booth babes. I'm sure many people walked away with the wrong information. Even the staff missed the paper notice in the visor that the vehicle is not production.

lol... would be funny as hell if she said, "then read the notice you a-hole" after you said "no you can't"

can you tell me more about the ride difference between the LE and TDR pro?

King noob, at least crappy cell phone pics are in order here, lol!!

Here's my rear emblem with the anthracite metallic from DYC.com. Not spot on with the front "TOYOTA," but close enough. I second what King says with toothpicks, as well as waiting a good amount of time after last coat. Longer it sits, easier to peel off. I did my racks in black too, but had to take off as I use the racks for surf and SUP. The plastidip was slightly peeling after about 4 times using the board straps. Will eventually either paint or possibly Bed liner.

Sure thing. When I was thinking about trading in my LE, my biggest concern was the suspension. I thought the XREAS did a pretty darn good job keeping things flat in the corners and the truck handled pretty well for what it is. I read many stories on here about body roll and especially nose dive in other models and so I was worried about losing the LE ride quality. The Pro is a bit bouncier (if that's a word) - more like a truck. It is a different feel, but still handles corners well and I notice no nose dive at stops or any sort of rocking. I'm quite pleased with how it handles which as I said was very important to me since 99% of my driving is on paved roads unfortunately. If you have any other question, I'm happy to try and answer.

That looks great and what I will do when I get some free time. Unless you run back to front and back really fast, you probably don't even realize the colors are slightly different.

which do you think has a softer smoother feel when you're driving on beat up road surfaces with potholes and cracks? i live in DC and winter here sucks and the streets are jacked up. local dealership here won't let me test drive the TRD Pro. thanks for the info!
kingnoob please resize your pictures.. lol it's taking up the entire width of my 80" computer screen.

even running front to back it's tough to tell. If you really wanted perfection, spray the rear and the front. I am definitely opposed to messing with the stock front, as it is cool the way it comes. But, with that being said, I think if you sprayed the front with that gun metal grey, it would really stand out nicely.
