[MENTION=119958]Shaolin[/MENTION]. Why go to 9" rims for the 285s? It's a tough call for me. I like the stock rims a lot, but I want to go to at least that size, if not wider, and still be able to air down without losing a bead.
Only works for me to go after market because I will throw a winter setup on the stock rims of probably 255/75 or 80 depending on what I can find. Narrow works better on ice.

I plan on keeping my TRD PRO suspension with a 1' front spacer so I thought the 17x9s with 285/70/17s would fit perfect without any major rubbing issues.

yes, i have both the 1.25" spidertraxx and the toytech 3/4" top plate spacer installed.

i had to trim the inside of each of the front fenders to alleviate the rub you've mentioned at full lock.

Where exactly did you trim? Got any photos? I just ordered the 3/4 spacers and spidertrax wheel spacers.

Have to laugh every time I hear someone repeat this myth. If anything it's exactly opposite. There's a reason the skinny wheel / fat tire combo is called the "poor man's beadlock". Never seen a single example of someone losing a bead aired down with this setup. Honestly the only concern with running this combo is possible uneven tire wear.

Really? I've never heard that term, but I have heard of too wide a tire on too narrow a rim losing the head when aired down. Never experienced it, but have definitely heard it. I do know the main reason that setup is questionable is uneven tire wear.

Front bumper

Doesnt look like anyone has put on an ArB or Shrockworks front bumper yet?

I emailed Shrockworks a few months back and they hadn't yet put one on. I'd like someone else to be the guinea pig as I hate accessories that don't bolt on.

there are members with both ARB and Shrokworks bumpers on an SR5 and TE..... you'll be surprised to see it is the same damn thing as a PRO

i trimmed the front of each front wheel well on the inside (closest to the engine). here's a pic of where i trimmed:

It is going to vary by wheel and tire combo, and even by individual vehicle. I waited until I had everything installed, then rotated my steering each direction and marked where the contact was. I then trimmed from there. I still get some slight rub on a mudflap during right turns when the suspension is flexed off road, but it is so rare and so slight I just don't worry about it.

There are no issues with fitment. I have been running a Shrockworks bumper for almost two years now...... I have their rear bumper as well.

thanks for that. I was asking about the TRD PRO though. I have a hard time believing they are exactly the same but maybe I'm just pessimistic. Call it too many "bolt ons" that never quite bolted on
