4runner TRD Pro

i think cement looks better on the FJ, im not sure why but it just does...

Yeah I agree, but i don't know why. I saw one of those FJs on the road the other day and it looked great in bright daylight, but these pictures under tungsten lights are leaning more towards primer grey.

I loved "Cement" or more apply put battleship (or aviator) grey when I first saw it on a 2001 Audi TT Coupe!

Still won't buy it in a 4runner until they change the butt-ass-ugly-sucker-fish-mouth front end though :biggrin2: ...even the new Taco, as ugly as it is, looks an order of magnitude better.
i love the Cement color, but it's truly unappealing on the 4Runner because Toyota's designers botched it. it's way too much; applied with way too broad a brush.

if they'd given it some matte black fender trim, door handles, side-view mirrors, roof rails, and rear bumper trim (yeah, as was standard on the 10-13 TE) it would look great. that's why it looks good on the FJ—there's some contrast to keep it visually interesting. unfortunately for the 4Runner, as it is, it's just a bland-ass wall of boring gray.

Thanks gonna call around tomorrow...

When origanally deciding on the t4r I asked the local dealer (Shore Toyota Mays landing NJ) to find me a trd pro in black or white...they laughed..I showed them $10k cash I was ready to put down on basically any black or white sr5 or above and laughed at them and walked out, guess they are happy selling Corollas and highlanders all day they didn't want to bother with me...ended up going to the next closest dealer (Toyota of Vineland) and getting an sr5 as it had already been 2 weeks since past leased pathfinder (mistake !!) was turned in..just wanted to get in a 4Runner, now in love with that cement color and still want the trd

What was the deposit

I think the biggest news from NY is that all Toyota vehicles will have Automatic Emergency Braking a lot sooner than most people expected (2018). I wonder what kind of implications this will have for our 4Runners. For the sake of future owners, I hope this system can be disabled via a cabin switch.

Agree!
That would look badazzzz

Aesthetics come & go; what I think most of us would love to know is the meat of the vehicle. Powertrain & Suspension!!!

Has Toyota given the 4Runner more HP & Tq? What advancements have they made for the suspension? Six or seven speed transmission?

Lastly, for my own whims, has Toyota finally hit the 21st century when it comes to a more responsive, EASY TO USE navigation/radio unit where voice commands will allow you to actually set a NEW navigation point via voice command (instead of the current non-option unless you already located said point once)?

No change from previous years
No, No
No

2017 is the same as 2016 which was the same as 2015.

Dont worry, ANTMAN will figure it out for us.

The 2016 LC has the full Safety P-Sense suite and it has a PCS switch to disable all of it under certain conditions. See around page 226 of the Land Cruiser owners manual (tried to attach it but it's too large)

This is assuming Toyota lied to us and is going to put it on the 4Runner which they did not announce at NY auto show.
The 4Runner was one of several vehicles to not get this tech as standard by the end of 2017.

The GX the 4Runner and the 86 (really the old scion FR-S) are the ones on the list there is no explanation for, which has people speculating on the future of these models for the 2018 model year.

When I saw the pic of the Cement TRD Pro from the Chicago auto show, I wasn't quite sure that I liked it... looked very bluish to me. Might have been the lighting in that pic, and I know I've seen the color before on Scions but I just have a hard time placing it.

However, in your pic, it almost looks halfway between white and gray... really sharp. I like that a lot.

I assume this is one of those colors than can change color a lot depending on lighting.

How would one go about ordering a cement 17 ?
My local dealer are a bunch of ding bats any time I inquired about one before..
What kind of deposit do they want and do they give you a set date ?
Could I trade in the 15 sr5 at time of delivery ?

When you make the "order" they will ask for $500 or $1000 deposit. Different dealers have different requirements.

Also when you make the "order" they will value your trade in. This is what is is worth currently. Seeing that you wont get the cement Pro til at least Nov-January you will have put 8-10 more months of wear and tear on it and they will offer you significantly less. In my opinion I would not even bring up the trade in until time of delivery. Don't have it appraised now because it will only hurt you.

All good points :)

I certainly hope they opt for a reliability proven 6-speed over anything else, hell I would have bought a manual trans if they were still available in a t4r.

Good lord how about simply phone mirroring in enTune, man that software suite is really pretty sad. You would expect when you change audio sources from say FM to Satellite that the presets would change with it right? nope not in mine anyway, what's worse? it used to work that way.

Yes, as you mention, any lighter color like white or even that quicksand (that can look like baby pooh), super dependent on ambient lighting.
