Check Ocala I drove 4hrs up there Sunday to get mine (they had 2) and couldn't have been happier with that dealership as a whole this was after I got the run around at one 10min away!

I pulled it off because I wasn't sure how it would go and I didn't want to paint on my back. That might work of Michaelangelo but not me
I started to lightly sand it, but realized that if the painting didn't work, and I removed the paint it would look worse than when I started. I just cleaned it really well, and then a final wipe down with acetone.

It's so much easier to remove it, clean it, paint in while it'd off and hanging or on it's back instead of you on your back painting....

I remembered about the skids being powder coated after I started to glass bead blast mine.
I can tell you, the powder coat they use is very durable and is well stuck.
So, it's a good thing you stopped after just starting to "lightly sand"!
For those who painted their skid plates, I started a thread sometime back.
Maybe you could throw your photos in that thread....It may help others that are on the fence whether to paint or not to paint or just give someone ideas!

Has anybody had any weird wear patterns on their tires (one or more)?
I went for my regular service interval (at 25,000) and told I needed a 4Wheel Alignment. I thought this was odd, as I've done nothing after market, and the only off-roading I've done is an occasional dirt/gravel trail...no rock crawling fun. My passenger side is balding on the inside, and every other tire is even (mostly, though wear seems excessive for 50,000 mile warranty tires).
Photos with the wear are from front (can see fog light) and one without the foglight is the driver side taken from the back of the tire.

Wow!!!! I get better wear on more aggressive 33s on a lifted Rubicon!!
I think in other threads I have read that guys with 5th gen have alignment issues....man that is horrific for 25k miles at least in visual appearance, did you feel anything when driving all this time??

You sir have a camber problem on that side. You need a front end alignment. Potholes and curbs, while not as damaging as in a regular CUV or car, can still knock the 4Runner out of alignment. Do you not routinely check your tires for uneven wear? To get wear that bad usually means it has been out of alignment for some time. You now need a new tire. I check my tires every time I fill up with gas and I put 30K/yr on it. Just a quick visual check to make sure I don't see what yours looks like.
Then you need to go back and re read those threads. The 4Runner, regardless of trim, is no more susceptible to alignment issues that any other vehicle. Actually, it is stronger than many but again, a hard pothole or curb hit will knock it out of alignment.
That is more of a TOE problem than a CAMBER problem.
That tire is not driving straight, most likely toed in towards the center of the truck.
I would try to play dumb and complain about it to try and get a new tire(s) for free but as others have stated - it has probably been wearing like that for quite a while and they probably wont help you out much.

If you're doing toyota service, that should have been rotated and noticed long ago.
If you're not doing toyota service, I might suggest rotating your tires much more often. I like pricey tires, so I do mine every oil change.
Should drive a lot better once you get that corrected!

I honestly didn't feel anything, UNTIL they rotated my tires at 25k...
I got on the highway and she started to wander all over the place, like, almost not paying attention I could have drifted into the leftmost next lane into another car. I called a gal I work with and told her "If I die, check my wheels!" She told me to go back and have it rechecked, but then it seemed to go away. It was as if one side of my wheels weren't tightened down...OR I had pizza cutter wheels on one side. But like I said, it went away after driving several more miles.

I had it in the dealership EVERY service interval. Toyota care. Tires had been rotated several times, with no know uneven wear until now.
(I am coming up on 30,000...so I was checking over everything before I take it in)

That's the thing, none of the other tires are worn like this. I am taking it in, telling them it is going to need something adjusted, and oh, BTW, I need new tires on the 50,000 mile warranty. There's WAY I'd get another 20,000 miles out of these. They are ALL worn equally like the "good side" of the passenger front that's giving me problems.

On my Limited 5th Gen I put 76K on one set. Have 36K on TRD with a crap ton of tread left.

Camber or toe adjustment is individual per each front wheel. One side is way out and the other side looks to be OK. Again, since you don't take it off road you probably hit a hole or curb and knocked one side out. It happens. The tires will be pro rated if they give you anything for it.
10K is fine for rotation but you have to inspect them every few thousand miles between rotations.
I have seen tires wear out on one side in few thousand miles if they are out.

Tired are covered under warranty? I thought they would be considered a wear and tear, similar to brake pads, wipers, etc.

Yeah, it went in every 5,000...and each time they told me they were rotating the tires. I should pay closer attention, but that Toyotacare makes it easy to drive in, have a coffee, then drive out and assume everything is on the up and up.
Wouldn't that be fantastic if THIS is the reason I am getting avg 13-14 mpg city?
The whole thing makes me sick...I've never missed something like this before...but then again, I never had free maintenance service for 25,000 miles.

Yep, using the dealer for simple maintenance is always a dicey proposition. I took mine in for the free 10K service, and asked them to change the oil only, not rotate the tires. I walk out on the drive, and sure enough the tires had been rotated.
On the tire wear note, mine are cupping quite a bit(both sides) on the inside of the tire. Tires have been rotated every 5K. I am now at 15K, and they will probably need to be replaced in 5K or so. I drive like an a**hole though, so that might have something to do with it.
A buddy of mine has a Pro, and his tires were worn enough on the insides that he just replaced them at 20-25K. He had an alignment done at the same time, so it will be interesting to see how this set of tires wear.
