4runner TRD Pro

Yep, using the dealer for simple maintenance is always a dicey proposition. I took mine in for the free 10K service, and asked them to change the oil only, not rotate the tires. I walk out on the drive, and sure enough the tires had been rotated.

On the tire wear note, mine are cupping quite a bit(both sides) on the inside of the tire. Tires have been rotated every 5K. I am now at 15K, and they will probably need to be replaced in 5K or so. I drive like an a**hole though, so that might have something to do with it.

A buddy of mine has a Pro, and his tires were worn enough on the insides that he just replaced them at 20-25K. He had an alignment done at the same time, so it will be interesting to see how this set of tires wear.

That is disheartening to hear, two different people probably replacing tires at 25k. Mild ATs on a stock SUV you'd hope would do 40k without skipping a beat. I think I easily got 70k miles out of my stock tires on the last brand new SUV. I was not off roading though, just highway miles, snow, dirt roads worse they saw.

I never get much more than 30k out of a set of tires anyway, so I am not all that concerned.

Dang! Well maybe it is driving style then. I easily get 40-50k out of ATs (BFG) on lifted jeeps and pickups. On stock 4x4s I get (and my dad too since I buy his trucks and take care of them) 60-70k miles out of mild AT tires (like Hankook ATM, Bridgestone Desert Duelers, etc).

edit: just confirmed with my dad, his last set of 265 Hankook ATMs went for 76k miles on a half ton Chevy 4x4. Mainly highway, lots of snow, and during hunting season dirt and gravel roads.

Damn the other two dealers I tried working with in Ohio wanted 4-6k over MSRP and he said he wouldn't budge lol.

He asked me if I wanted him to call me when it arrived I said no thanks.

Yeah i was surprised to see it sitting in lot especially with them willing to take about 2k under msrp

As of an hour ago, Crown Toyota in Ontario, CA still has a Super White TRDP. They called me this morning saying the buyer they had backed out. Said they would let it go for MSRP.

I passed. Will wait for the 2017 in cement!

In past few weeks I've had a few Cali dealers say they had a white one I could grab...just not my color....waiting on a Magnetic Grey....but for them to be in the SoCa region giving it at sticker price is pretty amazing.

Only thing that confuses me with MSRP, is why have I see TRD Pros sticker at $43 and change and others at $45 and change? Are there options equaling up to $2k on TRD Pros??? Or are dealers hiking the sticker price before they then tack on the extra $5k or more?

My question would be, what do those tires look like at 76k? There are probably plenty of folks out there who post up high miles on tires...but whether or not the tires had tread on them or were still safe is another question. I don't doubt that he got up to 76k, but the tires were probably past their operational life span.

You can push your luck quite a bit if you life in a place with not much rain or snow (like SoCal)...I used to see bald tires all the time when I lived in CA. I don't think that it is safe, and the fact that CA doesn't really do safety inspections lets folks get away with alot.

I do not push my luck, neither do my parents. And my dad is in Pittsburgh...and drives 45 miles to work in West by God Virginia, so cannot use bald tires...as snow, ice, and rain is frequent in PA/WV...and we go deer hunting places that the roads are not plowed and always using 4 wheel drive.

They were not pretty but still had tread. I lived on the east coast and can't give exact mileage but I know my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Columbia Edition with basically all wheel drive, which was used in snow often, stock tires went the distance too somewhere close to 70k or more.

30k just seems really really low for mild ATs...mud treads maybe but ATs at 30k miles? unless they are getting wheeled frequently or non-paved roads regularly?

I don't have the exact numbers in front of me but for GST you can add steps, remote start, cargo cover, cargo net, cross bars, stainless exhaust tip, and paint protectant film so that sounds possible.

Well LA/OC dealers seem to say sticker is $45k but start the price at $49k or more...in NorCa a dealer says sticker is $43 on their TRDs and offering them for $41k....thats a huge difference...

I know other dealers in Texas seem to put every port installed accessory they can on vehicles while my dealership keeps it pretty simple. So I can see that out there too.
The TRD PRO I sold yesterday only had the exhaust tip added and sticker was $43,259.

When anyone is inquiring about a TRD PRO at a dealer are they saying they can guarantee color or options?

I have this one going out tomorrow for a customer in the exact color and with the exact equipment they wanted.

Dude, Odessa/Midland seems to have more pros per capita than anywhere... I bought mine in Odessa before i moved to DFW. There were at least 4 Infernos running around when i bought mine and it was fairly early in the inferno run.

The pro comes with a sliding cargo deck or no cargo deck from the factory. Other than that they are all the same. A dealer could add chrome exhaust tip, running boards, floor mats and lastly a paint protection or something like that i forgot what it is exactly. The msrp sith destination charge should always be 42k to 44k and change. No more than that

Correct - but if the port installs anything (running boards, exhaust tip, cargo cover, roof rack cross bars, paint protection, etc) the dealer will never remove it.

Same with the dealer - if the dealer does anything to it - which I have seen some dealers have their own packages that they add on (window tint, paint protection, nitrogen tires, door protectors - etc) most of the time these charges are BS. I have even seen some dealers adding phone chargers onto their msrp for $70.

Also every Toyota comes with 2 years 20k warranty for free. I have seen some dealers putting this on the window sticker as a line item and charging anywhere from 800-1200 for it. Now that is really BS.

I think the most expensive TRDPro you can configure on the Toyota website with every option would come out around $45k. So any dealer saying their MSRP is higher than that is adding on their own packages, charging for warranties, etc.

Here's an example.

4Runners in general sell well here. Lol

I think those prices 70$ phone pack for example are set by Toyota and if it comes that way from the port they aren't taking it off. Toyota guard vin etching is extra and not standard with a new one so if it had that you'll be paying for it as well. Here are my examples
